Steve Westly's Chico Visit
State Controller Steve Westly, a Democratic candidate for Governor, will be in Chico on February 1.
I've had favorable impressions of Controller Westly in my previous meeting with him and know several apolitical associates of mine who have given glowing endorsements of Controller Westly.
Most of these associates know Controller Westly from his days as an early eBay executive and as an angel investor in bay area start-ups.
Let's put it this way, if I was an "early eBay executive," I'd probably be writing this blog on a tropical island right now - an island that I own - not running for Governor. But I admire Controller Westly's commitment to public service.
Both Democratic candidates, Phil Angelides and Steve Westly, are still largely unknown to the general public, and in particular Democrats in the region.
State Treasurer Angelides has already visited Chico on several occassions and therefore probably has stronger relationships with local Democrats right now.
But my feeling is that the Democratic primary is still a toss-up - at least for the hearts and minds of Democrats in this region.
The Steve Westly Town Hall meeting, free to the general public, will be held on:
- Wednesday, February 1st
CSU Chico, BMU 210
6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
