The News & Review feature on Lee Laney's work as program officer with the North Valley Community Foundation reminded me that I should do my part to plug Annie B's Community Drive.
You can find a list of participating nonprofits here.
Up until October 11, a portion of your donation will be matched by North Valley Community Foundation to your preferred charitable causes.
I recognize about 90% of the participating nonprofits, but it's interesting to learn brief information about a few nonprofits or community initiatives unfamiliar to me, like The Mustang Project in Corning.
When I evaluate nonprofits to support, I sometimes use Guidestar to check out the nonprofit's tax information and other financial and operational details.
Today's Scrabble word is kobold, a kind of domestic spirit in German mythology.

In the first three weeks of the Annie B’s Community Drive we’ve already received more than $100,000 in charitable contributions. We couldn’t be more excited and encouraged by this outpouring of resources from our community for our community! This is a testament to the generosity of our local residents, and a measure of gratitude for the invaluable nonprofits services in our region.
