Tanning Defense
Governor Sarah Palin is getting a lot of attention primarily because very little is known about her.
Hilariously, the Indoor Tanning Association is defending Palin from accusations that she spent frivolously on a tanning bed in the Governor's mansion.
"While partisan bloggers and the sun scare industry will use this as an opportunity to undermine Gov. Palin and demonize the indoor tanning industry, the fact is that Governor Palin’s decision to get UV light from a tanning bed positively impacts her health. 'Moderate amounts of indoor tanning allow Governor Palin to experience the many health benefits that come with exposure to UV light,' said Dan Humiston, President of the Indoor Tanning Association. 'Especially in dreary northern locations like Alaska, indoor tanning can help guard against wintertime depression and ward off diseases associated with vitamin D deficiency. Kudos to Governor Palin for standing up to dermatologists and other members of the sun scare industry who are trying to frighten Americans away from UV light.'”
If Palin becomes Vice-President, it will be great to have a reformer willing to stand up against the powerful sun scare industry lobbyists. I imagine the White House West Wing will need a few tanning beds too.
If there's any evil in the world, it's those dermatologists and sun scare industry ideologues. At least according to the Indoor Tanning Association.
Today's Scrabble word is fetid or stinking.

I'll remind you of Bill Clinton's running track installed at the White House. Yes it was financed through private donations, but the goal was to improve the health and well being of the commander in chief.

Keeping the president and vice president in good health and well being is good for the country, as Clinton demonstrated. As for Governors, are they any less worthy? I don't know if you've ever been to Alaska Dan, I have. Lack of sunlight is an issue for some people in those long winters there.

Your complaint is silly and baseless.

Got light, Anthony? :-)
Seriously, I think it's hilarious that the Indoor Tanning Association felt compelled to give kudos to Gov. Palin for "standing up to...the sun scare industry."
And by the way, yes, I understand seasonal affective disorder. Even my friend in Seattle uses UV light to help her deal with the rainy season.

Your complaint of Dan's complaint is silly and baseless, because Dan didn't complain.
He was posting a humorous story. Mostly he was poking fun at the pro-tanning bed statement.
Go over to postscripts if you want to see some baseless. Not so silly though, more like pathetic.
Oh wait, you won't do that because you dig the taste of the koolaid, right?

Anthony, have another look at the entry. Dan is not attacking Palin. He is mocking the ITA, which seems both fair and appropriate. Their portrayal of dermatologists as scaremongers is worthy of a poke.
You seem to be falling into this familiar pattern of defending what has not been attacked. I've noticed a lot of folks on the right doing that recently. I will not speculate as to why.

Sooooo nice to have tasker back, we just didn't have enough raw anger on these blogs. Though the other Dan is fast gaining on you.
I don't drink koolaid, to much red40 and other food colorings. Coffee, tea, water, milk.
I think most of the articles here are silly, many are baseless, so nothing new.

btw tasker, you are welcome to vent on WUWT anytime.

Oh...but Commission Impossible isn't full of baseless attacks and irreverant hacks. Come on...is that the best defense here you have?
At least this wasn't drawn up by the HOA as a political hit.
ROFL.

Thanks to everyone for their silly and baseless comments.
But seriously, if I wanted to mock Sarah Palin I would have reminded readers that:
1. Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it - and only voiced opposition when it was clear earmarked federal money would be reallocated for other projects in Alaska.
2. Palin believes that even in the case of incest and rape, a woman's choose right to choose should be restricted.
3. McCain and his allies have actually tried tout Palin's residency "near Russia" as foreign policy experience.
4. Palin called for teaching creationism as a scientific approach in schools. I believe people can genuinely disagree about how the world/humanity was created, but creationism should is not based on scientific hypothesis.
The list goes on and on, but I'll stick with silly and baseless commentary.
