Buying the Cow

Welcome to Buying the Cow.

The idea of this blog is, just as it's name implies. Let me explain. I'm certain most everyone has heard the expression "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?". The expression implies getting a good thing (milk) without all the fuss of being the owner of a cow. That's fine for bovine ownership but bad for free thinking and free speech. The idea of this blog is to provide fair, balanced, free exchange of thought between myself, the readers, and the readers amongst themselves. While most of the topics will be initiated by myself I encourage you, oh valued reader, to make suggestions on things you'd like to talk about. There are very few instances where I'll deny this request though I do reserve this right. We can talk about anything. I follow local happenings fairly closely, as Chico and the North Valley is my home and I intend for it to remain so for quite some time, and so am interested in such things and will initiate posts on them a lot. I also like to talk about State and Federal politics and happenings. I also encourage topics on music, entertainment, dining, general gripes about life, or whatever. Know of a good play in town? Drop a line, others might like to know too. Found someone who makes the best Gnochi known to man, definately let me know. Traffic getting you down? Speak up!

Some ground rules though. Please refrain from profanity. I'm a busy man and don't have the time or inclination to censor posts. I find one foul word in your post and I'll delete the whole thing, sorry, just gotta be that way, I have rules to follow too. Please do not attack a person or group in any way that is less than constructive. Don't like the Governor, say so, but say why his policies upset you. Be constructive, not personal. I refuse to post anything bigoted, racist, openly hostile, or threatening. Moreover I am mandated by law to report any threats of abuse towards individuals to the proper authorities, so if you're planning on doing something illegal, don't tell me about it, I'll squeal like a piggy. And please don't post anything that's apt to get me, your, or anyone else sued, there's enough law suits going around, we don't need another.

I think that's it for the don'ts. Here's the do's: Post as often as you like. Disagree with my stance? Let me know. Disagree with someone elses stance? Let me know. Want to talk about something specfic, let me know. Tired of talking about something, let me know. This is your blog as well as mine, have fun with it.
