You Are Cordially Invited

Astrophotography Invite.jpg

Jennifer Oman of Interstellar Studios wanted me to invite all of you wonderful Commission Impossible readers to their photography exhibit. Your official invite is shown above. The exhibit is from 4PM-8PM on Saturday, December 1st (11 Ilahee Lane, Chico). The photos exhibited are from the documentary efforts of Kris Koenig and others when filming 400 Years of The Telescope.

How often do you get to learn about history, science, art, see the world , and get a sneak preview of an award winning documentary? Well sure that happens to you all the time, but not here in Chico. This Saturday is your chance to do all of it. So go see the exhibit. Get some culture you louts!

I pulled a few photos off of the Interstellar Studios web site. I don't know if these might be part of the exhibit, but I figured I'd post them to tickle your fancy. Space is cool.

I like science, but I really, really like science fiction. So if I was God here's some of the things I'd put in space. Maybe they're already there? Isn't answering that question the reason we build telescopes?

Space IS cool! ...And so are you! Thanks for the post Lon, and for ferreting out some photos. We've been working double-time down at the Studios to get some jaw-dropping film clips logged and captured, so that we can show our fellow Chicoans a sneak preview of some of the footage for the PBS documentary to be aired in 2009.

We'll have refreshments, awesome photos, film clips, and stories from the world's most remote major observatories to share.

Hope you, Jennifer, Beckett and Ruby can make it!

Jennifer! So it's you! I have been wondering who the random person was that sent me an email about a car for sale. So random. =D But then again, random is my middle name!

Thanks for the info on the car. Space rocks.

Hi Jen! Thank goodness for another female voice in the CI-Zone. I'll see you at the exhibit. Yeah, even girls think space is cool. -Temp

I am a huge sci-fi reader. Trying to write my very own sci-fi novel at the moment. Although I get stuck at about 25 pages in whenever I try to start a new one.

the CI Challenge looks like part of one of the helmets from "The Chronicle's of Riddick"

Tempra,

In reviewing the applications for the Commission Impossible Advisory Committee (CIAC) I realized that we were short on female representation. So now I'm trying really hard to expand the CIAC without actually admitting that I'm doing it to correct a mistake made when it was originally formed.

I too will be at the exhibit, and I intend to bring my 50% female household. That includes our two cats, 1 female and 1 male. Perhaps that is too chauvinist?

I should say that I will discuss the opportunity to attend the exhibit with my equal partner, and after significant deliberation, considering both of our equally valid feelings on the subject, we will likely work together to bring our bi-gender household to the event.

Trevor,

You're getting writer's block because you haven't attended the Astrophotography Exhibit. Once you attend the exhibit a whole new world of things to write about will open up, and you'll soon be published by TOR.

If I ever quit writing this blog I may give writing science fiction a shot. I'd need a good editor, bacause grammar etc. not be an area I aint like to focus on to, not. Maybe David Little could help me out.

But I have to say that one of my favorite all-time books is Watership Down. I loved the bunnies. I think if they were in space with lasers and mechanical warbots they might be even more lovable*. Don't steal that idea, it's mine, all mine.

LOL well it's too late, cuz that has been my selling point for years now. ever since i first saw watership down when i was younger, i said "holy cow, that would be so awesome as a space opera. I had better start writing it now or Lon's gonna steal my idea one day." (actual words of trevor as a 11 year old kid. not kidding.)

Trevor,

Based on copyright laws I think I now have it copyrighted, see above.

Hey Trev Random, I think that was me that sent you the ad. Was it an old Mopar with a 383?

Sometimes before I get enough coffee I accidentally might use her email account or her toothbrush or try to put her clothes on, or who knows. It can get scary.

...And if any of you believe that Gregg can actually fit into my clothes, then we've got some real estate for sale on Mars that we can sell you for cheap.

Proud to be a female representative for the CI blog!

(I'm looking forward to hanging out with all you progressive thinkers and space fans this Saturday.)

Gregg, uhmm, yeah, it was, i think. The listing was deleted, so I cant say for sure.

What is this, Craig's list? I want a piece of every financial transaction generated by this blog. But I'd also like to avoid any liability. And good benefits would be a plus.
