Time?

Time is a concept. It does not exist. Yes that is what I said, time does not exist. The reason we have such a terrible time understanding the universe is because the universe does not care what we think and nothing is constant. The basis of mathematics revolves around assumptions and theory that really can not even be proved. If we actually could build something that traveled faster than light then we could say this will work and that won't. The true problem lies in trying to apply concepts and thinking to something we just don't have the capability to understand. When that time comes you will see not one but several people make the discovery around the same time. I am reminded of an episode of the Outer Limits, no not that one. In this episode a kid builds a cold fusion bomb. Wait cold fusion is not possible. The kid says the secret to building it is to get the wrong answer to the right question. During this episode the kid points throughout human history that as a major discovery is made there are several people that make the discovery thus the theory says when the universe thinks we can handle it it reveals a little more of itself to us. Think of it as school only instead of completing grade levels we complete levels of understanding. Now for this theory to hold true then there might be a consciousness that is guiding our progression in some form or fashion. Some may call this God, some Buddha, some Mother Nature, what ever name you choose to give it does not matter because It will not reveal itself until it feels we have evolved enough to comprehend its existence. I know it sounds far fetched and crazy. But it makes sense too. If time is only a concept that allows our brain to process the perceived reality around us then what other things that are held to be true are nothing more than illusion.
We used to think the world is flat. We used to think that nuclear fission was not possible. There was a time when fire was a mystery. We used to create elaborate stories and characters to explain the world around us. We have gotten better but we are not there yet. Our thinking is not abstract enough. You know the term "think outside the box" well try realizing the box does not exist. The idea of a box automatically creates limitations and structure. But who is to say those limitations actually exist. If time is a concept then moving through time is an act of thought. The present is a state of mind. The past is previous state of mind. The future is an unrealized state of mind. We keep looking for answers in our own ideas of how things work and it is a rare occurrence that some one steps outside these ideas to truly discover a piece to this immense yet simple puzzle. Yes I just referred to the universe as simple. We often find that once we make these discoveries that it makes sense and we wonder why no one thought of it before. Really our idea of existence is nothing more than that an idea. Granted some ideas are better than others and have plausibility.
So if time is a concept that exists in our minds then the ability to move through time would only be possible if we reach the point where we move through time using thought. Crazy! Think about it this way, how much do we really know about the mind and how it works? Not much. I guess you could say that to understand ourselves will lead to understanding the universe. Unlocking the mysteries of the mind may unlock the mysteries of the universe. There are many theories of what is possible if we could use 100% of our brain. There are theories that we could use telekinesis, telepathy, astral projection and others. I theorize that if we were to unlock the human brain we would also have the ability to move any point in the universe through thought or by willing it. Granted I may be a moron who has no clue what he is talking about but how are you going to prove me wrong. Math is a concept that only holds true because we say it does. It is our structural guide that we have created to try an understand the world in which we live. We created it. We created the concept of time. Don't run off because of what I am about to say. In the bible it says that to God a day is as 10,000 years and 10,000 years is as day. The only feasible explanation to this is that time itself is a concept and not a constant. If time is a concept that any passage of time is also just another theoretical move and moving through time takes only the power of the mind. Really the only example i have seen of this is in a movie called "Somewhere in Time" starring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. In the movie Reeves takes himself back in time using the power of is mind. He alters his reality to place himself at a specific point in time using only his mind.
Sure it is fun to think about time machines and the possibilities that it would create but really aren't we just over complicating it.

Jim, welcome to Nor Cal Blogs. This is a subject that has always fascinated me. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts and ideas. It takes a bit of courage to put this kind of stuff out there because many readers won't get it. Also, it's refreshing to have alternative type bloggers, something other than politics and sports.
