Cat in Heat

My cat is in heat. If anyone has ever been around a cat that is in heat I do not have to explain the life altering state of existence it can be to have a cat in heat living in your home. For those of you, whom have never been around a cat in heat, it is – with few exceptions – one of the most irritating things in the world. They will follow you around and howl at you in a bone chilling, hideous wail until you are ready to toss the stupid 4 legged creature outside and let it get pounded by the local tom’s.

35 Year Old Women

A recent study shows that 35 year old women have sex 3.5 times per week on average.

3.5 times per week!

All I have to say, I can not wait until I'm 35! That's the best reason for getting older that I've heard in a while!

Personal 10 Commandments

One of my bestest friends in the whole world is a Navy man. He wrote a blog about his Personal Ten Commandments; let me share the intro paragraph with you,

During a Briefing by our Ship’s Chaplin, he described that when going into relationships (not just in the Navy) it is important to know your “personal ten commandments”. These are unspoken rules. Guidelines that you expect human kind to follow or believe they should follow. Dose that make sense? It’s kind of like… Rule: Ketchup should always go on before mustard. Or Rule: Always watch the previews when renting a DVD.

He went on to describe his own Personal 10 Commandments. But it got me thinking, what would my Personal 10 Commandments consist of? I have been making a list for about a week now, it’s actually a lot harder than it sounds, but without further ado – Meagan’s Personal Ten Commandments:

Holiday Stress

The crisp scent of fall is in the air, and the holiday season is looming upon us all. Shopping, cooking, traveling, and merry making can add a lot of extra stress to our already overbooked lives. According to Webster, stress is a mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression. So, what do you do if your mood turns blue amid all the red, green and gold?

We’ve all heard a hundred times that exercise, a balanced meal, and plenty of rest are the ingredients for a stress free lifestyle – but how do we incorporate these ingredients into the overflowing plate we’ve already got?

It's nice to know there are others

It seems so funny to me that when you need something - the perfect quote, a reliable stat to prove your point, a piece of reaffirming information - it comes to you. I have written about this . Today I found this letter, and it was just the thing I was looking for. The post in it's entirety can be found

Why I Write

I have had a couple of people question my desire to write in the past couple of weeks – which is not a bad thing. It is important to understand why we do the things we do.

What I find to be extremely interesting is that whenever I am faced with some question about life or another – the answer always seems to present itself to me – and sometimes I am even paying attention.

9 Phrases Women Use, and what they really mean

This is a forward I received that was actually worth sharing! Hope y'all enjoy!

1. Fine: This is the word a woman will use to end an argument when she is right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she's getting dressed, "five minutes" means a half hour. "Five minutes" is only "five minutes" if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. "Nothing" actually means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with "nothing" usually end in "fine." (See #1.)

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare... not permission. Don't do it!

5. [Loud Sigh]: This is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you're an idiot and wonders why she's wasting her time standing there and arguing about nothing. (See #3 for the definition of "nothing.")

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. "That's okay" means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: If a woman is thanking you, do not question the gratitude, or faint. Just say "you're welcome."

8. Whatever: This is a woman's way of saying f*&# you. [Editor's Note: In JoseyLand, "whatever" can also easily replace "fine." Often does. See #1 for more info.]

9. Don't Worry About It--I Got It: This is another loaded statement, meaning she has told you to do something several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Quotable Thoughts: Logic, Part 4

I wrote this blog about a year ago, but it’s a fun little argument, so I am going to break it up into a couple of parts, because it is really long, and share it with y’all. Please feel free to argue with my logic, I would love to hear what you have to say.

We left off with the beginning of my argument, using logic. If you are just checking in today, please check this out Part 1 and Part 2 and Part 3

The funniest thing happened last night. Due to recent events, I have been doing a lot of thinking about logic and emotion. Then last night I'm lying in bed reading a book, and BAM! the perfect support for my argument was right there, literally in black and white. It's so awesome to find support for you opinion from a totally unbiased source. I mean, your friends can tell you they agree, that what your saying makes sense, but when a total stranger comes along and puts words to fact, that is true vindication. Ok, so what is the discussion? What is the argument? And what did I find? Be patient! I'm getting' there.

Quotable Thoughts: Mary Steenburgen, Then & Now

I think it’s very important for everyone in America to realize right now the state of our country, not just on this issue but on a lot of issues, that it is time to get active again. People have just sat back and just sort of said, oh, let somebody else do it for a long time, and we’re seeing what’s happening to the country, even freedom of speech. It’s not going well. So I think this is a real opportunity for people to see, yes, if you do get out and you do get active, there are other people there. You just have to seek them out.

Quotable Thoughts: ani difranco

some people wear their smiles like a disguise, those people who smile a lot, watch their eyes, i know ‘cause i’m like that a lot, you think everything is ok – and it is – ‘til it’s not.
~ ani difranco

Do you ever just smile? Because it’s easier to fake happiness then deal with being upset. Easier to be passive, and bypass aggressive?

When someone casually asks, “How are you doing?”

It is not socially acceptable to respond, “Well, my goldfish just died, I stubbed my toe last night and it still hurts, and I have a migraine coming on from the plethora of useless questions I’m asked throughout the day.”

What would people think of you if you countered in this manner - even if it is the truth? No, instead you are required by the keepers of the social norm to reply, “Fine, and you?” So whomever asked can feign ‘fine-nes’ as well.

Quotable Thoughts: Writing Down the Bones

"We walk through so many myths of each other and ourselves; we are so thankful when someone sees us for who we are and accepts us."

Quotable Thoughts: Success

I was doing some research for another article, when I came across this quote, “Success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.” ~ Jim Rohn.

I truly believe we find pieces of information when they are going to benefit us the most. This particular quote may have gone in one ear and out the other two weeks ago, but I found it at a juncture in my life when it would benefit me – or at the very least, get me thinking about things. I have been struggling lately with my personal success. Have I gotten where I wanted to go, am I heading in a direction that I can be proud of, am I happy with where my life is? These are the questions I have been pondering.

Quotable Thoughts: Bushisms

"I'm a strong proponent of the restoration of the wetlands, for a lot of reasons. There's a practical reason, though, when it comes to hurricanes: The stronger the wetlands, the more likely the damage of the hurricane." ---George W. Bush, New Orleans, March 1, 2007

Huh!?! Ok. I guess, I mean, what do you even say to that? Is that even English? Well, everyone’s allowed a mistake or two right?

"And there is distrust in Washington. I am surprised, frankly, at the amount of distrust that exists in this town. And I'm sorry it's the case, and I'll work hard to try to elevate it." --George W. Bush, interview on National Public Radio, Jan. 29, 2007

We are surprised too George. Surprised that you weren’t aware of Americans distrust of it’s politicians, historically, stemming from the days of Nixon. Maybe you missed that day in Poly-Sci 101, was daddy bailing you out of jail? But I would like to commend you! You have succedded in your wish to elevate the amount of distrust that exists in Washington, D.C., to epic proportions. In fact, that disturst has spilled off of American soil, permeated the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and is now effecting people in all nations. Kudos to you!

At least they give ya a little laugh!

Quotable Thoughts: True Love, or what's left of it

“I love you,” he said, “Let’s have another shot.”

There is an impermeable wall separating us, like a thick piece of glass. Allowing me to look into his eyes, and feel the heat from his body as we both look for a way to get through. Our souls are reaching to each other, but the barrier is too thick. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever find a way to break through and find what I’ve been looking for.

Quotable Thoughts: Body Language

I was reading an article online about body language. I have always found the idea of body language to be fascinating. To communicate an entire thought process without words. To a writer, this can be a scary concept, I thrive on words, what would I do if you took them away? And yet non-verbal communication is an essential part to life, and relationships…
