Why you should send me to Denver in August
I want to be a committed delegate for Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August. In order for this to take place I have to get as many registered Democrats as I can to show up at a yet to be named location on Sunday April 13th at 3pm to vote for me. Here is why I feel I am qualified:
I have been an activist on progressive political, environmental and social issues in Chico and Butte County for about 25 years.
I have worked on the campaigns and provided financial support to each of the five progressive members of the City Council as well as the two Chico representatives on the Butte County Board of Supervisors.
I am a financial and philosophical supporter of the Butte Environmental Council, the Sacramento River Preservation Trust, The Nature Conservancy and the Peace and Social Justice Center.
I have been an active member of the Board of Directors of KZFR Community Radio for nearly four years and am currently the Chair of the Board of Directors.
I have been an adult leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for the past 11 years and my youngest son is on the verge of becoming an Eagle Scout.
I have had the honor of having numerous letters to the editor printed in the Chico ER, the Chico News and Review, the Chico Examiner and the Chico Beat since about 1995.
I have sustained a progressive political philosophy for the past 30 years and I believe that Barack Obama has the potential of substantially improving the direction of this nation if we can get him elected president.
If you have questions for me or would like to learn more about supporting me to become a delegate, please contact me at demdantodenver08@yahoo.com Thank you!

Hello Dan,
You wrote this article before Obama's pastor scandal erupted. From my viewpoint, Obama erred fatally by not strongly denouncing the lunatic hate speech uttered from the pulpit. The "I wasn't there, I didn't know he said those things..." speech from Senator Obama made a bad situation even worse, because it does not seem credible that a man of his stature could attend that chruch for 10 years and not be aware of such things.
hell even David Letterman parodied Obama last night, running a segment counting the "...uh's" in Obama's train wreck of a rebuttal speech on the issue.
Today's polls show Obama has lost his lead and is sinking fast. What do you think about your hero now?
Do you still want to go to Denver to support this man?
I think given Obama's inexperience, foreign policy gaffes, and now increasing negatives, plus Hillary's strong negatives, DNC will throw a "Hail Mary" pass now and try to get Gore into the race to try to pull off the presidency.

Anthony,
Thank you for your comment.
Yes I will still go to Denver to support Obama if I am elected. I think you are talking about the speech he made in Philadelphia.
I viewed the entire speech and was perfectly satisfied with the perspective he presented with regard to his nut job minister and I thought it showed great courage, leadership and character of him to raise the issue of race in this country and to frame it the way he did. I think he described a reality about race that you and I as fat old caucasian men are unaccustomed to and frankly, not comfortable hearing.
I found his speech inspirational, uplifting and patriotic. If things play out the way I hope they will, this speech will be seen as the historical starting point for a new conversation about race in America.
If as you say, this is the end for Obama it only reinforces the veracity of his words.
If the media spent more time allowing people the opportunity to actually listen to what a man is trying to communicate rather than playing a lunatic's incendiary remarks over and over and over and counting "...uhs" in a speech, this country would be a be a better place.

Hey Dan,
My name is Ryan and I am a student at Chico State. I am with the Earth Month Committee and we coordinate all of the earth month events here on campus. We have over 60 events in 30 days and we need all the help we can get in promoting the events.
A lot of these events are focused sustainability and how it affects our daily lives and would make for some great topics for you to write about. Below I have included a sampling of events that celebrate different parts of sustainability, for a full listing of events you can go to www.aschico.com/?Page=982.
Our biggest event is Eco-Fest, which is a celebration of the environment and sustainability.
If you have any questions feel free to call or email me.
