Chico threw another rad party....one of the "under 21" variety of course

Remember way back when, in October, when I said that Chico really knows how to throw a party, especially when it comes to prep sports? My city did it again Friday night with the Pleasant Valley and Chico High boys doing battle at Acker Gym on the Chico State campus.

It was a chilly Friday night and the basketball-hungry came out in droves to see Chico’s two public high schools do battle and they were treated to a great show. Regardless of the basketball, just watching the student sections is enough. There is no predetermined line drawn where Chico fans end and PV fans begin, but it’s pretty obvious to see because a sea of red and gold quickly turns into a sea of navy blue and white.

The kids were respectful and jovial, save for a couple incidents of teens being teens, and everybody had fun. Well, maybe not everybody, because the Chico High players lost and they weren’t too stoked.

When rivals get together the crowds can sometimes take it too far, and the game becomes secondary. On Friday, the game spurred the kids on.

Way to go, Chico and PV students. Aside from a pair of displays of not-so-great behavior, you all had a blast and still showed respect for all people involved.

I can’t wait to see you all again for the rematch! Oh, and the rematch should be barrels of fun too.

Okay, let the weekend commence!
