It's almost Spring. Time for a slight break
Spring Break doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot when you’re not in school anymore. One of our newsroom clerks here is going to Las Vegas for the break, two of my friends are currently basking in the sun on cruises and others are simply spending a week with the family. I’m jealous of them all.
The prep athletes up here are kind of like me in the sense that they don’t really get to have much of a spring break. Chico High is hosting its small baseball tournament this week and a slew of other local teams have been hittin’ the road in search of multiple contests on the diamond.
And even if you don’t have any games scheduled, it’s likely that practice is part of the equation at some point.
So it’s not really much of a break for prep athletes. For me, it’s somewhat of a break, though you won’t catch me getting a better sun tan or partying down at the craps table at the casino. Instead, I’ll be working with the ins and the outs of our new, smaller newspaper layout.
I say take some time off from prep sports this week and get ready for the awesome weather and the league schedule. I won't be doing that, but I encourage you to.
