Who wears short shorts? PV's boys basketball team

Unfortunately there wasn't a photographer assigned to the Oroville at Pleasant Valley boys basketball game Friday night. At least I had my iPhone.

The Vikings wore throwback uniforms from 1986 and they were - ahem - scandalous. Not really, just - um - revealing. It was a lot of leg those fellas were showing. Here are some pics, and they're quite funny.

Scott Jenkins shows off his retro duds Friday night. Robert Duong (left) seems amused as well, just like me

Sorry you're so blurry, Jaycob Velasco. Oh, and sorry your shorts are so small

Nice look, gentlemen

looks like they are having a ton of fun to me! GOOD FOR THEM!!

Leland,
I appreciate the publicity you are giving the PV boys varsity boys basketball team. However when I took the time to look at the photos & read your article in the Er sports section, I could not read the entire article without thinking there may be a mis-print, was this same writer who had been “disappointed that there were no photographers to get quality pictures”...apparently that was to our advantage. It allowed fewer reporters to take offense to a team of high school boys just trying to have fun.
The player’s photos that were taken, in addition to the final score, obviously worked in our favor. I say “our” because I am a part of that team and those are my teammates that you are so rudely putting down. There will not be many people in this community that will agree with your article, it goes from changing the clothing to changing the game itself.
The retro night did not change the rules, so that fact should not have been part of your opinion. According to you it only was a distraction instead of fun.
Perhaps along with the photos and insulting comments that you put online you could have taken some of the parents cheering and smiling right behind you. It was a fun night for everyone who had attended, from the ladies who were voted in as princesses & homecoming queens, to the friends of all the players, and yes, even the players wearing “those tight shorts & tighter jerseys.”
There is no reason to belittle the players who just wanted to have fun. You may think we were out of line to have a retro night (fyi…it was also an 80’s spirit day at school as well) and to wear those “short shorts,” but I am sure that the majority of the crowd was more focused on the game instead of our attire.
I think that your personal comments under the posted pictures were not a “swell idea.” Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but maybe next time you will stop and think about what you should be writing about…sports, not the fashion trends. This article was un-necessary. I think I speak for my whole team when I say that. Thanks for the publicity.
