DEADLINE
If you want to vote in the Republican Presidential Primary Election, you must be registered as a Republican . If you register DECLINE TO STATE (most people call this Independent), you cannot vote in the Republican primary Presidential election in California.
You may have heard in the news that independent voters in other states, for instance New Hampshire, are able to decide on Election Day whether to vote in the Republican primary. It doesn’t work that way in California.
The clock is ticking for those still needing to register to vote.
California residents who wish to vote in the Feb. 5 Presidential Primary Election must register by January 22.

BACK IT UP

The story of the girl who lost her computer to some scumbag criminal in the local major newspaper is truly sad and tragic. The people who stole her computer should have the decency to bring it back.
The story is also a reminder that we all need to back up our data.
I bought one of these WD PASSPORT self powered USB drives. Just plug it in and it comes up as a hard drive in Windows. Then you copy your photos to it and keep it somewhere away from all of your other stuff.
They also have a fireproof/waterproof external hard drive now too.
So many of us store our life's memories on hard drives now that making back ups is really important.

Satisfaction
From Gallup
by Joseph Carroll
PRINCETON, NJ -- As Americans look ahead to the new year and reflect on the year past, a recent Gallup Poll finds the public generally content with their own lives. Most Americans say they are generally happy, with a slim majority saying they are "very happy." More than 8 in 10 Americans say they are satisfied with their personal lives at this time, including a solid majority who say they are "very satisfied." This personal satisfaction level contrasts sharply with the low level of satisfaction Americans express with the way things are going "in the United States at this time." Republicans, married adults, those residing in higher income households, parents of young children, those attending church weekly, and whites are most likely to say they are satisfied and happy at this time.
