State's rights trump the feds
It is the responsibility of each person, and especially the judges and politicians in each state, to assure that each state’s own wishes take precedents over any federal laws. For instance, if our state votes in a 75 mile per hour speed limit, no benefits to illegal aliens, legalized marijuana, or a ban on gay marriage, the wishes of our state’s people should be enforced without federal interference as the constitution grants the states such rights.
Our forefathers experienced tyranny and the quest for power and control by the federal government and realized that the one last defense against such abuses was to leave final power in the hands of the state except in extreme cases such as national defense. Our only check on the federal power mongers is to demand and accept no less than the respect for our state’s autonomy and right to self rule.
By this I mean that if any conflict exists between our state laws, especially if voted in by our state’s men and women, our courts and our elected officials should be required to stand for our rights as so sworn to do or be impeached, jailed or both. For instance, I read that the Feds arrested medical marijuana patients and swept them to a federal prison for years even though they were given the right to use it by our voters. Our elected officials should immediately demand the release of these folks or all federal taxes collected in the state should be withheld from the feds until they comply. Jailing anyone for legal activity by the feds is the most blatant and arrogant abuse of power that can be demonstrated and cannot be tolerated.
Every statesman and true American should take any action to put the feds back in their place that is permitted under the constitution including calling upon the formation of a citizen’s militia in the worst case. After all, we all know that our federal government and our political system is rife with corruption and power hungry self righteous crooked politicians on the take from one PAC or the next and they flaunt it in our faces as they believe we are helpless-----and we are unless we stand up as a state united.
Any oath of office in our state should require and stress the full understanding of our dominance over the federal bureaucracy and a promise to take any measures necessary to enforce that policy for the good of our state’s citizenry and for the good and survival of our democracy.
