Save your Money on Jarhead
I just saw the movie "Jarhead." Wasn't what I expected and that would be a huge understatement, given the trailers that teased you about this being an accurate war movie. It was more like the gay version of Full Metal jacket, sans 99% of all action scenes.
We never saw them fire a shot in anger. Way too much graphic sex talk and young men in nude scenes..I think the director was obsessed with this part. Like, the scene where a platoon of Marines chases off a female reporter by simulating a gay orgy or the scene where Swofford (the star) dances naked with a Santa Clause hat over his wang when he should have been standing fire watch or the scene where the war is over and some idiot is dancing with his trousers down to his ankles around a camp fire like another surreal scene from Apocalypse.
The theater was packed to see a good war movie. Guess we will have to wait for that one, for this movie was far short of good and far short of war. The movie tag line was "Welcome to the Suck" and that about summed it up!

Then this movie should fit right in with todays culture. It should be a smash hit in California theaters. (Sarcasim is free on Monday)
