Dec. 7th, 1941 - Pearl Harbor

g474789t.jpg
On Dec. 7th, 1941 almost 3000 Americans died in the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. On Dec. the 8th, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan and Germany.

Over 600,000 Americans were killed or wounded during the following 3 1/2 years of war. It was a fight to the bitter end; there was no time limit, there were no politicians saying we can't win, we just saw what had to be done and did it until it the war was over.

Hey Jack:

I still remember when you and I visited the USS Arizona memorial in Hawaii and I noted all the Japanese tourists there. Your comment was, yes, but for them it's not a memorial to the dead. It's a tribute to victory.

Of course, that was before the 60's and the "movement" in which this country supposedly bettered itself and became more enlightened. During that time any manner of vulgur expression could be displayed any time any where as long as it was called art. Children were left to fend for themselves after school, leading to an uprising in youth gangs and crime all because it was no longer vogue to be a "stay at home parent". Media was then able to report troop movement, formation, strength, capabilities, and defense since freedom of the press is Constitutionally protected, no matter now against common sense it could be...hey it's good news. Can't forget how in fashion it became to walk out of the house wearing rags, dirty, and smelling like a cess pool, and how in fashion it still is. Oh, and since the 60's it's okay to be a jobless, homeless bum and suck off the government. Socialism is okay as long as it wears a blanket of Democracy.
Yep, the 60's did lots for this country. I certainly feel enlightened.

With the exceptions of vets and conservative news outlets, December 7 passed as just another day.
You would have thought the Japs attacked on December 8 but that wide spread press was for John Lennon. It makes me sick.
