Our thanks to "Cris" for these severe storm information websites shown below:

Anyone wishing to provide storm information will get a priority here. We will be posting new information whenever possible through Saturday afternoon, after most rivers affecting Butte, Glenn and Tehema will have crested.

I'm currently writing you from Butte City. About a mile to the east of us at Hwy. 162 and Road Y it's flooded and the road is closed. Beyond that, 7 mile lane, Agua Frias Rd. closed due to flooding.

Needless to say we're keeping a close eye on the Sacramento river which is about a 1/2 mile west of us. Winds out here are really strong at the moment, looks like gusts well over 40 mph.

TIP: People coming the Butte City area to Chico should use Hwy 45 to Hamilton City, it is open, but high winds and heavy rain will make night driving dangerous.

12/31/05 1030 hrs. The water in the Sacramento is well below flooding. Roads to the west of us are still closed, although water is receding quickly. Winds remain strong and gusting.

  • Warning: California Vehicle Code section 22350 says, you must drive at a speed safe for condtions. Even if you are drivng within the posted speed limit, the safe speed could be greatly reduced due to road conditions....so please drive accordingly.
