Warning Signs When Nations are in Decline

Another symptom of decline: Society becomes out of touch with the age they live in, although statistical proof points to increasing divorce rates, higher crime, increased family dysfunction, rising drug and alcohol addictions. Their civilization is in melt down. Meanwhile an increasing number of "enlightened" people (liberals) are coming forward like false prophets, claiming they have all the answers, rallying the masses against the rich and people in authority. This phenomena is called deconstructionism and its been frequently repeated throughout societal evolution.

Value judgments become vague. There is a wide spread contempt for the old traditional ways that once formed the nation's foundation. Cultural authority is challenged at every level. Acceptable standards for truth and value are in question (aka textual criticism). An extreme example of deconstructionism is the French Revolution of 1791. Liberal thinkers of the day rallied the poor and destroyed the rich monarchy. At the time France was one of the 3 greatest powers on earth, but it went immediately backwards from the chaos of revolution. It was "deconstructed." Apathy, despair, corruption and a confused mixed of ideals ranging from democratic, socialistic and even anarchy, caused France to languish for decades as broken and despoiled nation barely able to govern itself. Note: There were many similarities between France of the early 1800's and Germany in the 1930's...both were deconstructed, but for vastly different reasons.
