AMERICANS UNITE!

by Tina Grazier

Yesterday Americans spent the day honoring our veterans; what will we do to honor and support them today and in the days to come? The President spoke to the nation following September eleventh knowing the breadth and depth of the war we faced. He told us the war would happen on many fronts, some seen and others unseen. He said the war could last for twenty years. Was anyone paying attention? Is it possible for Americans to remain faithful over the long haul to this great national cause or will we continue to squabble and fight amongst ourselves for purely selfish reasons? May I suggest a website for inspiration: www.vetsforfreedom.org

An introductory letter from the founders of this organization describes "...a long war hampered by the shortsighted." This certainly communicates the pettifogging dialogue that passes for political speech and for much of what passes for news about the war. The public, once united against the terrorists threats, is now often confused and torn. In an article entitled "The Troops Have Moved On", an op-ed for the New York Times, Reserve Marine Major Owen West (one of the founders of Vets for Freedoms) speaks about America, "American conscience is one of it's greatest strengths, but self-flagillation especially in the early stages of a war against an enemy whose worldview is uncompromising is absolutely hazardess."

Every day a small band of volunteer warriors fights to keep us safe and free. They face death and injury against "an enemy who has been at war with us in one form or another for two decades," says Major Owen West. Isn't it time for Americans to place the war and it's priorities above all else.?To do otherwise would be to reduce our "support" to the level of frivilous and insincere flattery. We cannot control what the media reports but we can seek information on our own. We cannot control what our politicians do, but we can pressure them with emails, phone calls, or letters...and we can vote. We can also, for the next two+ years, lift up the Commander-in-chief on matters pertaining to the war. It is counterproductive to udermine our leader.

And so today, the day after Memorial Day, and for all the days ahead in this long war let us vow first and foremost, to set for ourselves a standard of conduct and speech that reflects and unites America. Let us join together to offer real and genuine support for our troops:

BY SUPPORTING THE MISSION!

Madhatter, Thanks for reading my post, I do what little I can. I hope you visit the website frequently, it reveals a much different picture than we get from the MSM.

Yes Tasker, you are free to express yourself in America, and on this issue, you are free to make a perfect fool of yourself over and over again. Your ability to grasp a larger picture is matched only by your ignorace of the extremist Muslim point of view, plan and resolve. But it really is Ok, the MEN & WOMEN we sent (and support) can get the job done without you. In the end you will remain free (instead of being beheaded, shot in the head, or forced to become a Muslim)to scream supercilious invectives to your heart's content.

And we are not just fighting this war in Iraq...we are fighting it all around the world...on many fronts....some seen and some unseen...some overt and some covert...and obviously some using "words" with nutters such as yourself who seem able only to obstruct and undermine the effort sans, once again, THE FACTS!

Be glad to oblige, Tasker...but they are your facts. Your proof that we are not in a war against terrorism. Your facts demonstrating that America and other countries are engaged in a battle to defeat extreme Muslim fanatics. I have heard your accusations but not seen any evidence to support your claims.
