AMERICA'S HERO'S - "COMPLETE GENTLEMEN"

by Tina Grazier

We need look no further than our own hearts to realize that human beings are easily pulled toward a darker side. Those who nurture and encourage such tendencies are bound to harbor and then promote evil deeds. For this reason we must remember to honor and promote the warrior nature in men.

One of the most lasting ways to honor them and lend them respect every day is to pass the baton to future generations. And so to honor all of them, past, present and future, I'd like to recommend and quote from a wonderful book :

"THE COMPLEAT GENTLEMAN. The Modern Man's Guide to Chivalry"
by Brad Minor

"There are two kinds of men for whom violence is an integral part of character: criminals and complete gentlemen."

"Most men are dangerous, if only because evil is never very far from winning human allegiance."

"The logic of violence is crude but simple; violent reaction against transgression deters others who might follow suit."

"To say that a gentleman is courageous is to say that he is willing to risk his own life, safety, and comfort in the battle of good and evil."

"The accompaniment to courage is honor; without honor, courage may be nothing more than bravado or even cruelty."

"The question most American's often ask is this: Where do we find such men? Where do hero's come from? How do they always manage to come forward just when we need them? The answer is, of course, that heroism will not need to stir, but it will arise and conquor if they have dreamed the dream."

"And the courage and strength of the warrior are qualities that 'save' society even in times of relative peace."

__________

Since the 1970's pacifism has been a quality held up as both good and noble, some even suggesting that it leads to peace. I respectfully and most heartily disagree. A small few of us can remain cloistered in a safe place leaving others to guard the door, expecting others to keep evil forces at bay. Instead we must call out and lend full support to our warriors, those among us who have it in them to fight and take a brave stand for freedom, justice and peace. To these, America's "complete gentlemen", I say thank you. May we teach future generations to do and be as these.
