STONE'S THROW TO GOLDEN AGE
by Tina Grazier
Oliver Stone's new movie, "World Trade Center" received very positive reviews from conservatives following a recent private screening. A taste of their right wing commentary has me curious enough to want to go see it.
From Cal Thomas-"Whatever one thinks of Oliver Stone, the man knows how to make movies. This is one of his best. It deserves an Oscar in so many categories. It also deserves the thanks of a grateful nation. Go and see it beginning Aug 9 and bring him a large profit so he might consider inspiring us once again, as his predecessors so often did during Hollywood's Golden Age." Cal Thomas does not mince words and he's no pussycat...
so he's managed to peak my curiosity. National Review's Ken Fouler said Cal Thomas was "dead on" and his colleague at NRO, Kathryn Jean Lopez said,
"Oliver Stone, in recreating what happened that day in the lives of two resilient men, has done more than any politician's speech could ever do as we approach the fifth anniversary of the attacks."
"In World Trade Center we see how Americans react to evil. It's an evil we should not forget -- and it's an evil we should call by name. Thank God there are people willing to run into burning towers and Marines willing to report for duty. Thank God there is goodness to prevail in the world."
This is high praise no matter which way you look at it. But my favorite review came from a conservative blogger, Jack Yoest who revealed what the movie is not about:
"It was not a conspiracy movie It did not bash Bush
It was not sappy
It was not about stupid, church-going nuts
It did not mock marriage
It did not blame America
It did not support radical Islam
It did not mock marines
It did not mock Jesus
It did not mock cops..."
"...It did not mock family, faith or freedom...This is a movie you will see in a few weeks and you'll be glad you did."
About now a few of our friends on the left are asking what this movie could possibly have in it that would be of any interest to them! I guess you have to be a fan of the "Golden Age" and of this amazing country we live in
to understand.

Not hating America? That would be a first for Oliver the Stoned. He must have been high on Ecstasy when he made this movie.

Madhatter and DB...I'll go to see it,,,fer shur!
The one thing Holywood understands is money. It should be fairly clear by now that AMERICANS enjoy an entertaining flick that makes them feel good. Trashing and preaching to Americans doesn't work and sure doesn't bring in the bucks.
