The Black Hats

by Tina Grazier
hitler18.jpg Has anyone else seen the video of military parades in Iran and in North Korea or watched the leaders of these nations and not been reminded of the WWII movies of Hitler? I used to wonder how the world could watch his speeches and not get that he was a dangerous

man. I don't have to wonder anymore; I've witnessed firsthand the denial, the excuses, the appeasement, the game of moral equivalency...and now the most chilling reminder of all, the singling out and blaming of Jews. "While denying the Holocaust, [the Iranian president] is openly preparing the next one. Ahmadinejad is behaving exactly like an Islamist Hitler. He is using the same tactics of signaling in advance the act of destruction. That the same thing is happening is one thing, but that the West is reacting in the same way is unacceptable. What is history for?" Former Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, the Spectator, August 12, 2006.

"The most dangerous leaders in modern history are those (such as Hitler) equipped with a totalitarian ideology and a mystical belief in their own mission. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fulfills both these criteria, as revealed by his U.N. comments. That combined with his expected nuclear arsenal make him an adversary who must be stopped, and urgently." Daniel Pipes, danielpipes.org January 10, 2006

And many continue to claim there are no monsters in the closet, no villains in our midst...no men in black hats.

History is trying to repeat itself for sure, but there is one obvious exception. There is now a strong nation of Israel, unlike during WWII. And it has a powerful military to deal with the neo-Nazi's of today, in whatever form they may take. And like in England around 1939-40, Israel has a big, generous friend, the USA.

Jack, You're right of course but it's still incredible to watch the denial and also to watch the events unfold. It's almost like deja vu all over again!

Unfortunately, denial is always a ready substitute for critical thinking.

"In such a world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people, not to be on the side of the executioners." Sorry, don't recall who said it, but it fits in here really well.

The liberals have become so adjusted to opposing anything any conservative said or did that when it came time to joining forces to save themselves, few could or would...thus we have a house divided.

Nobody's in denial. We just can't see any point in all this fervent, gleeful rush to carnage you guys perpetrate here on this site.

Take Iran. They haven't got the bomb. They're not going to have the bomb anytime soon. We got plenty of time to bring them around. And frankly, the Shrub's decidedly undiplomatic behavior is just makin' us look stupid. We are not in any postion to be makin' another war. The Shrub's partner-in-idiocy, President AJ, knows this perfectly well, and is having way too much fun jerkin' BushCo's chain. It has got to stop. We need subtler minds at work on the problem, and we don't seem to have any of those in the White House just now. We have to find some.

And then, I'm going to suggest something really audacious. So Iran gets the bomb, so what? We have the bomb, and we haven't detonated ... recently. India and Pakistan both have the bomb ... and they hate each others' guts, but they haven't detonated. It would, of course, be better to keep club membership down, but if we can't, it's not the end of the world.

Nobody was gleeful covering the carnage in WWII and nobody is gleeful now, I can assure you. Concerned is more like it. This is what is happening. Reporting it and not the same as doing it, so how bout throwing some stones at the bad guys for a change there Libby?

You said regarding Iran's nuclear bomb program, "...it's not the end of the world."

Lets us hope this doesn't go down as "famous last words."

"the Shrub's decidedly undiplomatic behavior is just makin' us look stupid.

I love the way you guys on the left think that the world suddenly changed it's attitude toward America when GWB was elected. It's gotta bethe dream world you live in.

If the folks in Paris, for instance, dislike Americans perhaps it's because they are snobs or because they are envious. Or maybe the America they "hate" is a creation of the left-wing media bigotry toward anything conservative or Christian or maybe it's a result of the wonderful characters cranked out by Hollywood.

The only people I know that turn their emotions and opinions about America on a dime are American liberals who believe everything is roses as long as the guy in the White House is a democrat. You guys also think the economy turns on the same dime...but that's another story!

And Jack, "famous last words."...that's one for the books!
