Pope's Comment - Update

Kashmiri activists belonging to the Muslim League (ML) shout slogans during a protest against Pope Benedict in Srinagar September 15, 06. REUTERS/Fayaz Kabli
CAIRO (Reuters) - Muslims on Friday deplored remarks made by Pope Benedict on Islam and many of them said the Catholic leader should apologise in person to dispel the impression he had joined a campaign against their religion.
A Somali cleric associated with the Islamist movement in that country has called on Muslims to "hunt down and kill" Pope Benedict XVI for his comments about Islam and violence. (How does hunting the Pope and killing him show the world that Islam is a religion of peace? Anyone? )
Muslim fanatics elsewhere threatened to carry out attacks against The Vatican, Rome and elsewhere because of the Pope's remarks. (Or, at least they say it is because of the Pope's remarks.)
Meanwhile...Four churches were attacked in the West Bank yesterday by radical Muslims outraged at the Pope's remarks on Radical Islam.
Saudi Arabia's grand mufti called the Pope's comments "lies".
Communists joined the protests against the Pope in Uttar Pradesh, India.
Violence and massive protests spread around the world.
Many Vatican experts in Rome regard the pope's speech, seen as portraying Islam as a religion that implicitly endorses violence, as a mistake. Meanwhile Muslims firebombed churches in Gaza and Palestine. Violent protests continue...Muslims from Britain to Indonesia are joining an avalanche of criticism over remarks by Pope Benedict XVI.
(Some mistake)

"(How does hunting the Pope and killing him show the world that Islam is a religion of peace? Anyone? )"
How can anyone expect to be respected or to convert followers to the religion when the first thing that comes up after a perceived insult is to kill, murder, behead, blow up the so-called offender?
How can anyone justify calling for such action unless they are willing to demand and submit to the same consequence for themselves in the same, reversed situation?
How can any of this go on and still we hear from some that we must all be tolerant?
How can people call the Popes use of a centuries old quote the equivillent of speech designed to incite murder?
How can the actual murder of a nun not be front page news to demonstrate the difference?
You got me, Jack. Insanity? Stupidity? Naivete? A strong desire to undermine our form of government?
