Kerry Insults Soldiers

Paraphrasing John Kerry: "If you stay in school, and study hard, and make an effort to be smart, you can make it. If not you end up stuck in Iraq."

OH, MY GOODNESS!! I am shocked. Not for the reason your probably thinking though. Its no news to many of us that alot of high placed liberals dont think much of the military as a profession. Sure they pour accolades on us poor ignorant enlisted guys for the benefit of that sentimental, patriotic voting block; but thats only because many of these same people learned from personal experience that openly insulting service members is a bad idea.

The disdain however never left. Many liberals I know see the military as something you do if you couldnt get into college on your own merits (or the merits of your parents portfolio), and for some that is probably true. Just like I

think alot of liberals stay in school changing majors 4 or 5 times because the idea of leaving college for the real world where people demand results, not just petty theories is terrifying to them. But that is neither here nor there.

What is amazing is that John Kerry managed to say, for once, what he THOUGHT, not just what he thought the rest of us wanted to hear. I applaud his honesty. Many liberals dont seem to understand that we poor dumb enlisted guys picked up on the patronizing remarks, made for the benefit of the cameras, a long time ago. It is actually refreshing to hear a liberal say what they think.

Be proud John Kerry. You alone have managed to step forward and in no uncertain terms say loud and proud, that anyone who serves in the military for reasons other than having it as a page in their resume for a potential political carrer; are saps who couldnt make it in the scary world of.....college!!!

On behalf of myself and the rest of us simpletons I salute your candor. Perhaps you can convince more of your political persuasion to finally come out and tell it like it is for the benefit of the voting public. Dont worry, us military folk are probably to stupid to understand the joke anyway, right?

I guess we'll just scurry off now to our mindless occupation where we train and advise thousands of indigenous personnel in a combat enviornment for the purpose of establishing democracy in a portion of the planet that has never experienced it. And in the process directly contirbute to those history books they read over at the university.

If only more liberals were willing to go over there and show us how to do it right.

P.S. I'm saving the bottom portion of this post for the sarcasm to drip off and collect.

Jhacch, Scharry, I' m chavin ng a bfi t ov chtrubbble....acheeeem...the sarcasm drip had me all choked off! Or maybe it was the, er, excuse me...barf after reliving the nightmare that is John Kerry, who served in Viet nam, by the way!

The incrediblly insensitive and ungrateful and demeaning remark was bad enough, but THE COVER UP EXCUSE...it's more than any person should be required to er, swallow. And liberals think the president is a verbal bumbler...wow, imagine what life with this guy waking up in the prez quarters at 1300 Penn. Ave every day would be like!

He can not run away from his record and he refuses to hide. Is asking him to just shut up too much with boots on the ground?

Sarcasm...laced heavily with contempt is dripping now....

Kerry responds to his critics:

"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they're afraid to debate real men. And this time it won't work because we're going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq."

He managed all of that with his foot in his mouth too...wow, what a guy.

"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy."

Senator Kerry, For heavens sake! We in America can hear and understand the English language. We know what you said, and it wasn't that complex...we have video and...we are familiar with the dictionary...so, stop with the pretense of offense defense! It's unbecoming even for you.

As Jack knows, my son serves in Iraq and has since January. He is the gunner who sits atop a humvee while performing combat patrol in Baghdad. He is shot at, has had IEDs blow up in front of his vehicle and seen death and destruction at the hands of terrorists. Senator John Kerry knows not to go to Iraq and look a soldier in the eye and call him or her stupid. These service people deserve better than this dirt bag who with his friends are now is trying to spin it as a joke.

Tina said, "We in America can hear and understand the English language. We know what you said, and it wasn't that complex" and I for one couldn't agree more.

I really think this comment was a throwback to the old Vietnam days. My coach used to tell us, "You guys flunk out and you're going to get drafted and go to Nam." This meant those who were not producing go into the military and get punished and this was from Kerry's generation.
This is what he was saying too. Some are saying he obviously didn't mean it the way it came out, but I don't buy it,I really think he said exactly what he meant.

What Kerry said.
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

The Kerry Spin.
Kerry's office said the senator had misread his prepared remarks. They said he had intended to say, "Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.
Anyone can "misread" a word or two from a statement. The speech and the spin above do not even begin to look similar. "Kerrys office" is lying.

Kerry's people lying? Now theres a shock, NOT.

Posted by: Madhatter at November 1, 2006 12:02 PM

Karl, I think your sense of Kerry's remark is right...he, more than anyone, seems to be stuck in Viet Nam.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this...a lot of young men were drafted back then but most of the guys had at least a high school education and I know of several who went to the academies or who had at least some college. So the whole notion of "ending up" in Iraq because you don't do well in school...just like in Viet Nam smells of a type of bigotry that can only come from arrogance and or stupidity. He looks upon the military as a lesser solution or opportunity and that's just pure bologna!

The military is filled with career opportunity as the returning vets, on the whole, exemplified upon their return. "Rambo" is the exception, not the rule, and as that film illustrated the disillusionment was a function of the John Kerry types in America with their mouths full of "falsehoods and derision....mystic chrystal revela-ashun...aquaaarius...". And they haven't grown up yet.

Kerry is a gift from God! The funny thing is, if he were a republican he would have been gone years ago. The Left can't just cast him off, he is the quintessential liberal. On the other hand, if this election doesn't go the way they want, Kerry better think twice before getting on any aircraft or going to the park at night.

One of the more disgusting performances I have seen was Paula Zahn trying to diminish the remark as a botched joke, parroting the Democrats defense. That dingbat likes to reference herself and her cohorts as the "best political analysts in the business" or some such tripe. My apologies to the tripe.

This is nothing new, the media will carry the water for these idiots no matter how offensive the act is.
The media has been force feeding us DNC propaganda for months about how republicans are going to take huge hits in this election. If that is factual and they have hard polling data to back it up, why are they pushing so hard? Also, I see that the networks are not going to do exit polling in this election. That tells me their numbers and their position is not nearly as solid as they want us all to believe. I was upset with the GOP and still am but I couldn't live with myself if I didn't vote and the Left does manage to win huge. I know I did my small part in keeping it from happening and that is all any of us can do.
