On behalf of my acquaintances on the left I would like it mentioned that the media ran this story contrary to strict left wing policy that absolutely no good news is to make it out of Iraq unless it directly helps the campaign efforts of a Democratic candidate for president.

How on earth are we supposed to lose this war, thereby giving democrats a solid chance at the White House, if we print any news, no matter how factual, about success in Iraq.

Now we all support the troops, because to admit otherwise would be suicidal, but were talking about the greater good here people. We could afford to lose a thousand wars if it brought one good liberal democrat to the White House. Like wise all the victories in the world would not be worth our losing one seat in the House of Representatives.

So with this said, I strongly protest this report, which is obviously an attempt to bring factual information to the American people, devoid of a negative twist which could benefit the Democratic party. And after all what is journalism for, if not to assist the nation by providing the type of reporting that helps the democrats win elections.

Salaries have gone up more than 100 percent since the fall of Saddam, and income-tax cuts (from 45 percent to just 15 percent) have put more cash in Iraqi pockets. "The U.S. wanted to create the conditions in which small-scale private enterprise could blossom," says Jan Randolph, head of sovereign risk at Global Insight. "In a sense, they've succeeded."

Jack this is my favorite part of the story...especially the part about tax CUTS...15%! I have heard that a flat tax rate of about 17% in America would handle our tax burden...Ireland lowered theirs to 10%...the Russians I think 11%-12%. Too bad Americans refuse to get it.

This is bound to make the people in other areas...Iran for example want democracy...we can win this thing...all it requires is the will to do so!!!
