In the News Today
by Jack Lee
Looking at the news today I see this wack-job in Iran still lives up to low expectations. What did he say this time? Well, the worlds dumbest President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said in Sudan late Wednesday that "Zionists are the true manifestation of Satan." Rrrrright...label a whole country of millions of people as a bunch of Satans, could this wingnut being any more absurd? Maybe. He followed up with this gem, "Many Western govern- ments that claim to be pioneers of democracy and standard bearers of human rights close their eyes over crimes committed by the Zionists and by remaining silent support the Zionists due to their hedonistic and materialistic tendencies,"
Ahmadinejad has made a habit of making stupid, biggoted, anti-Israel comments for years and has more than once called for the Jewish state to be "wiped off the map." He's also refered to the Holocaust a myth, which is a crime in some countries like Germany, Canada and France. And soon this man will have his finger on the nuclear trigger, isn't that just great? Where is our "bunker buster" when we really need one?
Did you read about the town in So-Cal that resembles a Mexican border town ? You knew this story was coming and here it is in our own state, "Cudahy resembles a Mexican border town more than it does a Los Angeles suburb. Entrenched gangs and Mexican drug trafficking have trapped working-class legal and illegal immigrants in a cycle of violence and fear, in a city where less than a quarter of the 28,000 residents are eligible to vote( illegals or felons). An uneducated, spanish speaking, city council, a deeply troubled police force imported from Maywood two towns over, and the raw power of the hispanic 18th Street Gang — a complex criminal organization with a knack for setting up business fronts and obscuring underground drug activity — make Cudahy residents seem like hostages in their own city."
The article goes on to say, " in La Opinión, a Spanish-language daily, that the city of Maywood, currently under a $2-million-a-year contract to police Cudahy, was facing a state takeover because the police department — the Maywood-Cudahy Police Department — is so out of control. " Not by Tijuana standards it isn't...see it's all a matter of perspective and what you get used too!
"U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency has seized almost 20 times more cocaine over the past five years than in Bell, a bordering city of similar size, and the city suffers more crime per capita than small towns nearby. It’s a city with 200 active gang members, where shootings are common..."
Two words: Open border. Need I say more?

A political novice in a tiny city of Mexican immigrants…Mendoza had expected dirty tricks…After the third call, Mendoza pulled out of the March 6 race. “I have my family to think about,” he said…Running for council seats against a slate of incumbents in a city infested with gangs and drugs, Danny Cota and Luis Garcia faced similar tactics. A truck owned by Garcia, a former city employee, was painted with graffiti, and ex-felon and Cudahy city employee Gerardo Vallejo sought a restraining order against Garcia for criminal threats. A judge tossed the complaint, but Garcia’s campaign was rattled.
How to lose the American dream...one city at a time. War is no longer two armies fighting it out on the battlefield...it's individuals taking difficult stands in one event after another. I fear too many of us know not what we have to lose.
