In the News Today - Iraq Retreat Bill
As debate rages among Democrats and Republicans over whether to impose a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq, a poll conducted earlier this week by CBS News found that 59 percent of Americans agree with the House bill for a withdrawal date of September 2008.
Far more Democrats (77 percent) than Republicans (33 percent) — with independents at 59 percent — believe most of the United States troops should be out of Iraq by that time.
The Senate may vote tomorrow on the overall bill. Link to story.
UPDATE: Senate voted today and the bill has passed.
