THE US MILITARY SILLY!
“Which military is that? We don't have enough for Iraq and from what I've heard, Iran will be an even tougher nut than Iraq was." Tasker, from a recent Post Scripts comment.

I have no idea what exactly our friend Tasker was talking about, but I felt compelled to answer his question anyway.
I guess the fact that the President of the United States has exercized incredible restraint in his war plans escapes our furry friend to such a great degree that he has no feel for the HUGE POWER & FORCE we could exert with our entire military.. A wee story from the Debkafile today might illustrate a tiny portion of the strength of our military:
DEBKAfile reports: More than 10,000 US personnel, two aircraft carriers and 100 warplanes begin biggest simulated demonstration of force in Gulf since the 2003 invasion of Iraq
...sources say the US operation, code-named “Bite,” will last no more than 12 hours and consist of missile and aerial strikes devastating enough to set Tehran’s nuclear program several years back.
...warplanes are flying simulated attack maneuvers on enemy shipping with aircraft and ships, hunting enemy submarines and seeking mines, off the coast of Iran.
...military sources explain the presence of the French naval strike group led by the nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle which joined the two US carriers last Friday: The group will carry out security missions in the Arabian Sea and its warplanes fly in support of NATO in Afghanistan.
Ignorance may be bliss but.....

I am curious if Tasker, off the top of his head knows anything about the size of US forces availible, or that we have been exceeding our recruiting goals in the active duty and national guard, or that various responses require different troop levels, or really anything about the nature of military operations in general.
I seem to recall Tasker stating that he had served at one time, you would have thought that such an experience would have given him some inside idea of our military capabilities.

I think you're right...and not just about Tasker but about many on the left. They have crawled into a peace box that renders them incapable of addressing bullies...I think it comes from "dabbling" in Buddhism. I have respect for people who follow the faith. It bothers me that the dabblers don't seem to get that if the practices could bring "world peace" the Dalai Lama wouldn't have to retreat into hiding while others remained on guard to protect him.
