Same Old Song

by Tina Grazier

The Recent democrat stance on the war in Iraq, including betrayal of country and troops by the very weasely Harry Reid, deserves continuous condemnation. I was happy to see that John McCain was willing to step forward and graciously do just that:

"We, who are willing to support this new strategy and give General [David] Petraeus the time and support he needs, have chosen a hard road. But it is the right road. It is necessary and just. Democrats, who deny our soldiers the means to prevent an American defeat, have chosen another road. It may appear to be the easier course of action, but it is a much more reckless one, and it does them no credit even if it gives them an advantage in the next election. This is an historic choice, with ramifications for Americans not even born yet...."

Things haven't changed much for democrats through the years as is evidenced by this portion of the
party platform in 1864:

"Resolved, that this convention does explicitly declare, as the sense of the American people, that after four years of failure to restore the Union by the experiment of war, during which, under the pretence of military necessity, or war power higher than the Constitution, the Constitution itself has been disregarded in every part, and public liberty and private right alike trodden down, and the material prosperity of the country essentially impaired, justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand that immediate efforts be made for a cessation of hostilities, with a view to an ultimate convention of the States or other peaceable means, to the end that at the earliest practicable moment peace may be restored on the basis of the federal Union of the States."

Then as now, in the midst of war they say we must have peace but they will not offer a path to peace and instead deny and run away. They cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. They refuse to acknowledge the goal. When times get tough they say all is lost...we have been ruined...they say we must back down no matter what hell that may bring tomorrow.

It's the same old song with democrats, give up, run away, quit...anything but WIN.

Jack and Tina, you are right on the mark. The only word missing, which I would have used regarding Reid's remarks, "Treasonous." One only has to look at Al Jazeera to see who benifitted from his words, it certainly wasn't our military. Where are the calls for his resignation!

You will find them only on talk radio, Rush did a couple of weeks ago, and on blogs. If I run across a mainstream call I'll post it.
