Jedidiah Roy Percifield - Darwin Candidate

by Jack Lee

Nov 24 - Oroville, Deputies pursued Percifield after he ran from them near Thermalito Forebay about 8 p.m. "He reportedly ignored several attempts to stop his vehicle, a raised Chevrolet Silverado pickup, and reached speeds exceeding 100 mph on Cottonwood Road, and on highways 99 and 70.

He eventually turned onto Big Bend Road from 70, then onto Dark Canyon Road, which dead ends in the Feather River Canyon.

He quickly turned around at the dead end, clipping the front end of a sheriff's patrol car, and proceeded back up Dark Canyon Road to Highway 70.

There, just south of Deadwood Road, he ran over a spike strip laid down by the California Highway Patrol.

The device flattened two tires on the pick up, and one tire on a sheriff's car, but Percifield kept driving on Deadwood to Jordan Hill Road, where his truck crashed into a ditch. "

Percifield smashed out the rear window of his own vehicle in an attempt to continue running on foot. He was then confronted by officers after he was spotlighted in a tree and refused to come down. A CHP officer shot him out of the tree with two bean bags fired from a 12 gauge shotgun. Unfortunately Percifield was not injured and was taken to jail where he was booked for evading arrest, vandalism and drugs. Bail was set at $38,000. This time the people on the road with this guy were extremely lucky because he didn't kill anyone... but, it was just that...luck. So, do you think he will learn his lesson with a little jail time and a fine? I know he would if I were king! 60 days, stocks and bonds, bread and water, loss of his license and his big truck smashed into the size of 40 gallon garabage can. I know, I know, I'm being way too kind.

I feel Percifield has earned the right to be nominated for a Darwin Award!

Hi Jack,

I'd point out that to be a Darwin award winner, you actually have to remove yourself from the gene pool. This bonehead didn't succeed, so is excluded from the running.

Here is the website with current nominations:

Yeah Jack, this guy could, and likely will, continue to reproduce. There are plenty of young trailer-park girls willing to make babies with this type of loser. In fact, he will likely make more babies than other men his age with higher intelligence, making him a Darwin winner, and a nightmare for the rest of us.

There was this sci-fi movie comedy, I forget the title, that portrayed this guy of average intelligence being placed in suspended animation for hundreds of years and when he awoke he discovered the world was a really stupid place.

All the normal weeding out of the population by natural selection was reversed. The really smart people agonized over having children, how many and when was the best time and they eventually were just outbred by the Billy-Bob types and in a few generations the world IQ had dipped to incredibly low averages. This average guy from our time was suddenly looked at as a danger because he could think too much and the plot took off from there.

Maybe this is not quite as fictional as the movie intended? We are medically able to save people who do really stupid things all the time and we are financially able (welfare) to save really stupid people who contribute zip and live off the rest of us and breed. I think California as a whole is a lot dumber than we were just 50 years ago. Crime stats and school report cards tend to support this suspicion.

For your viewing pleasure, the movie is called "Idiocracy." It's kind of a dull movie, but the concept is very interesting.
I agree with a lot of this concept. I think welfare has subsidized generations of people who should not be breeding.
The good news is that teen pregnancies are going down, and some of the credit for this is going to welfare reform. If they don't see a free meal ticket, they won't be as eager to make babies with billy-bob no more.

Thanks for the comments Dane, also I found out more on the movie from Wikipedia...

Idiocracy is a 2006 American dark comedy directed by Mike Judge, and starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph. The two main characters submit to a hibernation experiment that goes awry, and they awaken 500 years in the future, to discover that dysgenics, rampant marketing, and cultural anti-intellectualism have resulted in a uniformly stupid human society.

The film's title, "Idiocracy", derives from the Greek words idiotes (meaning originally a private individual but, later, an individual who was incompetent or unwilling to participate in public life) and krates (meaning rule or political power)—thus, idiocracy is rule by the stupid.
