Exposed…“Bush Lied” Liars
by Tina Grazier
Bushco, as Libby calls them…the former BIG OIL men in the White House…went to war for OIL. They couldn’t wait to get their hands on the huge PROFITS they would make from taking Iraqi oil. They schemed and plotted and lied to make it happen. At least that has been the "Bushco theory".
Iraq will award contracts to 41 foreign oil firms in a bid to boost production that could give multinationals a potentially lucrative foothold in huge but underdeveloped oil fields, an official said on Sunday. "We chose 35 companies of international standard, according to their finances, environment and experience, and we granted them permission to extract oil," oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad told AFP.
Those who claimed President Bush's motive was oil were dang liars then and they are dang liars now. It should have been obvious to them when “Bushco” decided to assist the Iraqi’s in setting up their own government while continuing to defend the fledgling democracy, that “Bushco” was up to something quite different than self interest or money. It should have been obvious when 70% of the Iraqi’s proudly displayed purple fingers to show they had voted. It should have been obvious when Prime Minister Maliki visited Washington to praise and thank President Bush and the American people and spoke of the strides being made by his government. It should have been obvious when the Iraqi government requested that we stay in Iraq to defend their country. But their own twisted intentions were not so honorable.
Please note that Iraq is in charge of it's own affairs and is awarding contracts to companies in many nations. Contracts are legal agreements entered into by willing signatories...things like that often happen in free countries. George Bush’s intentions were always exactly what he said they were…period.

Tina, there are bloggers out there saying that this proves the war was all about oil.
They say that now that things are under control, Bush has directed his cronies in the Iraqi government to give those contracts to his buddies in the oil companies. They say that Bush threatened to withhold financial aid for Iraq if the Iraqis did not give those contracts to the companies they did.
You say this post proves different--I don't see the proof yet.

Quentin I imagine there might be bloggers saying those things, especially if they have invested a lot in the "Bush Lied" theory.
In order to believe what you say they are saying you first have to believe Bush has "cronies" in the Iraqi government. What an incredible insult to these brave people who have worked hard to reach agreement with each other to ensure a working free government. You also have to believe that the non-cronies in the government would all go along with the cronies or that indeed along the entire process everyone involved was willing to do the bidding of GW for his gain rather than doing what would be in the best interest of Iraq. That's a pretty big stretch.
Quentin...you have to be smarter than that.
Unless these bloggers have posted memo's, letters, emails or some evidence that "cronies" exist and that together they plotted and schemed with GW for some benefit all you have is a bunch of rumor mongers perpetuating a myth.
The fact that oil is an important commodity in the world for economic stability and the progress and prosperity of emerging countries (as well as the US) is a factor of this war but oil was not an object of covetousness by selfish cowboy "oil men" as has been implied relentlessly.

I absolutely believe that Bush has cronies in the Iraqi government. OK, now I have insulted them. I am looking for proof, I am not worried about their feelings.
For this to happen would in no way require the assistance on the non-cronies. Only a handful of people would be required to agree.

And you know this because you have been there, you've seen how the system works, you've spoken to someone who can varify what you're saying or you've been shown a compromising "cronie" video or heard a "cronie" recoring....uh huh...
You want it to be true so in your mind it is.
Thanks for sharing, Quentin.

"I absolutely believe"
Is that a little like "I strenuously object"
Quentin you are aware that if Bush wanted to make himself and his "oil cronies" rich, invading Iraq was probably the least efficient way to do it.
Now I know whats coming, so allow me to preempt it...
This is the part where you say "I didn't say Bush was smart"
Right before you then proceed to explain to all of us how he masterminded the whole thing.
Or, and I'm just guessing here...maybe there were relevant security concerns about a ruthless America hating dictator, with billions of dollars in oil money, eagerly looking for a way to get back at the US.
No that couldn't be it...your idea that idiot Bush developed an elaborate plan in which he gathered "cronies" from intelligence agencies all over the world to help him devise a scheme where by he would use a trillion dollar war in the middle east to raise the price of gas is far more probable.
I mean after all...he is only the president of the United States, its not like he has allot of influence. Obviously he would need something of that magnitude in order to make money.
Oh wait...no he wouldn't! In fact if he wanted to get rich AND endear himself to you, he could have simply endorsed regulation that would have essentially provided a domestic oil cartel, or perhaps a complete government monopoly, which then he could have controlled through a cabinet position. From his position, he could have very easily funneled money where ever he wanted all in the name of "fairness" and "economic egalitarianism"! And you would have been completely on board!!
Oh the fool!
Well hey, at least you have a shot with Obama.
