IQ and Religion (one academic's view )

People who have high IQs are less likely to believe in God than people of average and below average intelligence, according to Richard Lynn, emeritus professor of psychology at Ireland's University of Ulster. Lynn claims that the general decline in religious observance over the last century is directly related to a rise in average intelligence. The smarter we are the more likely we are to shun religious services?

Editors note: I'm wondering which religion has the smartest membership and which has the dumbest? My guess is Christians (includes Jews) are among the very smartest and I won't say who I think has the worlds dumbest members because they might chop my head off or drive a bomb laden truck into my house.

Dear NorCal Bloggers -

I just wanted to let you all know about the problems we've been experiencing with NorCal Blogs today. Some of you may have attempted to log into the site's control panel this afternoon only to see an error message. While you all have been unable to manage your blogs, readers were still able to go to norcalblogs.com and read blogs and previous entries.

This will hopefully be a temporary problem. Our technical support team has identified some problems with the database that holds all of the blogs. They aim to solve the problem and restore the data -- which was last saved Monday.

This backup means all of the posts made today will be lost. However, I have gone through and saved all of the recent posts and will restore them when the system is working again.

They are going to be working on the problem at 4 p.m. today. They will notify me when the problem is resolved and I will relay that information to you.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this disruption may have caused. I know I wanted to blog today and I hope others did too. I'll let you know as soon as I learn that the system is back up.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or questions on this or any other matter. Thank you.

- Ryan

I will stick by my original assessment as state that this appears to be a text book case of flawed reasoning.

Passing off correlation as causation.

A quick look back at history and such names as...
Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Ptolemy, Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Constantine, Aquinas, Copernicus, Newton, Einstein, Hoyle, etc. (All Theists) suggests that perhaps something other than IQ is responsible for the current shift we see.

Perhaps it has more to do with anti-theist indoctrination at the youngest levels of government education.
