The left has scored an historic victory! They've finally won the last battle and this means they've won the war. Just as they did to California's government, the left has taken complete control over the whole federal government. Congress is in their hands, now the Senate is in their hands and of course they own the white house. But, the real victory and the real power of the federal government is in the Senate and Congress and the Dems own those houses.
This is indeed a historic moment for America and ironically it came down to the election of a far left candidate for the Senate, one Al Franken-D of Minnesota. An eight month long court battle is over and Republican Norm Coleman has conceded to Franken only moments ago. "The Supreme Court has made its decision and I will abide by the results," Coleman told reporters outside his St. Paul home. Franken won by a micro thin margin of less than 200 votes, but a win is win and this one catapults Democrats into total control!
Franken's presence in the Senate would give the Democrats unlimited control because they now hold 60 seats, enough to overcome any Republican filibuster if they stay united. A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the earliest Franken would be seated is next week, because the Senate is out of session for the July 4 holiday.
If there was ever a final straw that broke the elephant's back, this is it. The Republicans had desperately clung to the hope that somehow Norm Coleman would stop the Democrat onslaught and prevent the takeover, but it was not to be. The GOP is devastated by this insulting victory because it came from Franken. This is a person they considered the most rabid leftist on the Democratic ticket and ironically it had to be him that delt the death blow to the GOP.
I suppose now we can expect defections from at least a few moderate Republican's who will soon be fighting to save their careers in hotly contested re-election bids. This goes with the old adage, if you can beat em, might as well join them and the GOP has certainly proved...they can't beat em. California has once again set the stage for future national events, proving that as California goes - so goes the nation.
By the way, you do realize that California is broke and their legislature is either inept or corrupt. It's like a ship of state in a storm tossed ocean that has lost it's rudder, sails and anchor and they're taking on water faster than they can bail as the current pushes them ever closer to a rocky reef in shark infested waters! California is only days away from total disaster thanks to their liberal democrat crew. (But, I suppose it could be worse)
I wrote this the day after the election, what with Frankens victory I think it needs repeating today.
The Last President of a Free Republic

It seems as though the whole world is rejoicing to the news that the “Anointed One” has won the election. In reality it is one of the darkest day's America has ever witnessed. A veil has been thrown over the head of the great Lady of Liberty as her enemies have finally found a way to bring her to her knees. All that remains of the this once ”Great Beacon” of democracy are those ”Bitter Clingers” who are forced to accept their defeat.
Men and women from around the world will stand in awe as the “Anointed One'' stands at the cusp of attaining the most powerful position the world has to offer. With a belief that he will right the wrongs of the past and level the playing field for all, the masses rejoice at the idea of his rule. With a promise of prosperity and equality reminiscent of what Karl Marx wrote of, he has beguiled the masses with his empty promises.
But what of those ”Bitter Clingers” who stand in fear of what his ascension to power really means? When their leaders are declared enemies of the state and the laws are changed to stifle their dissent? What will they do when the country they loved resembles the tin horn dictatorships of South America? What will become of them, after their enemy has destroyed their way of life? Will they ever be able to mobilize as a force to take back their country? And what of their God, whom the friends of the “Anointed One” will inevitably declare illegal on grounds of intolerance?
Well, they can see the handwriting on the wall, and they do not need Daniel to interpret for them what the handwriting says. The “Anointed One” and his legion of godless councilors will claim that their God has been weighed in the balances, and found wanting. They will thus rule that their God and his laws are unconstitutional and unfit for today's society.
Yes, the very God whom their forefathers gave credit to for founding this once great democracy. The God whom they trust with their souls and pray to for salvation. Their God and their religion, will be reduced to a status similar to that which it received under the Roman Empire.
They also know it will be just a matter of time before those in power reverse centuries of achievements that have allowed this country to prosper and shine. Achievements that have enabled the very ones who have gained power to now be where they are. And it is a position of power they can ill afford to loose ever again, so they must change the rules so no one can ever remove them form their rightfull place.
As our rulers, they will make laws restricting the freedoms of these “Bitter Clingers” whom they truly despise. The freedoms that have allowed them to rightfully cling to their Bibles, and their guns. Freedoms and rights the founding fathers have said are bestowed upon them by God not man. However, with God declared null and void, they in esscence declare those rights have come from men instead. Now it will be their right as men in charge to take away those rights that the “Bitter Clingers” foolishly hold dear. Yes, These “Bitter Clingers” rightfully believe in a Constitution that gives them the right to cling to their faith and their means of self defense. A Constitution that the “Anointed One” and his cohorts have promised to shred if they are ever given the chance. Well, the day has come for them to have their chance, and we can all thank our fellow Americans for it. When it happens and mark my words, it will, there will be no excuse for not realizing what his intentions were when they elected him.
I am reminded of what the apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians,
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (Thessalonians 2:9-12)
Now, we can all sit back and watch as the “Annointed One” ascends to his place in history as the last President of this once great free republic. I say “Last President” of this once free republic, because in a truly free society you do not stifle the votes of some while illegaly allowing votes of others to cary the day. Something I dread that will happen time and time again as long as the “Anointed One” and his cohorts are allowed to rule as they will be.
When and “IF” the “Anointed One” leaves office, this country will never ever be the same again. I would just add one more thing. Now that the comedian Al Franken has won the Senate seat from Minnesota, Obama and the democrats have complete power to do as they will, and that my friends, is not very funny.
Jack, Franken is an ex-entertainer (Hollywood) but he won in Minnesota...did I miss something? What's the California connection?

Not really. Teddy and Bob Byrd have been too poorly to attend the Senate. And a lot of Dems have somewhat-less-than-progressive constituencies. Nothing horrible will happen.
