"The pundits are wrong. Conventional wisdom is wrong. Sarah Palin's decision to step down as Alaska governor was a brilliant move................. The pundits call her a quitter, but let's be honest - the pundits never liked her to begin with. Better to take one hit for stepping down and move on than to stay in Alaska and die a death by a thousand cuts. Willie's World-Willie Brown"
Those are the words of one of the most savy politicians in California's history, Willie Brown. Many pundits and politicians have taken Sarah Palon to task for resigning her post as Governor of Alaska. This critisism is not exclusive to the left, she has her share of detracters on the right. It is amasing how none of these individuals who are attacking her, can stop her. She is quite unique in todays political world. It's even being reported now that she plans to eagerly campaign for Republicans, Independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and energy independence.
All these attacks upon Sarah, from both sides of the isle will only ensure one thing, and that is the inevitable end of the two party system. It is my opinion that while Sarah will remain a Republican for now, she has within her power to mobilize independents, and conservative Democrats behind her. Not since the Gipper has a politician been able to tap that veign of American pride and anger. Like Reagan, she has the potential to effectively neutralize both the Republican and Democrat establishments. This ability could enable her to build up a bi-partisan team of congressmen that could very well usher in a new age in politics.
Largely due to the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, the country was ripe for a change. That change eventually came in the creation of a new party, the Republican party. While the reasons may differ today then back then, there is again a clamor from the people to change the way politicians get things done. That demand for change is what put the most liberal politician since Henry A Wallace into the White House. Along with a congress that agrees with Obama, America changed into a Socialist nation. However, now the people are beginning to realize what kind of change they got and they don't much like it. Look around you, people are again talking of change, but this time the talk is about real change. A change that could usher in the dawn of a new age and the creation of a new party. Could Sarah Palin play the role of Lincoln as the first President of America's newest Party of power?

When I read Jack Lee's article, More On the Tea Party Movement, I was struck with the same thought. Although I never tied it into Palin, but now that I read this I can say I could see it happen.
"It doesn't matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat...we see both parties as failing the people. We see you both guilty of spending us into the poor house, and just because one party does it slightly slower than the other it doesn't let them off the hook. Both sides... must stop the wild, irresponsible spending!" Jack Lee July 8, 2009 9:30 AM
Taken with stories from around the country about the bi-partisan nature of the tea parties, I can see a brewing that is cooking. There is a movement taking place, if it is what you describe only time will tell.
"Along with a congress that agrees with Obama, America changed into a Socialist nation."
Not quite yet. Check this out:

As you will see, a commercial lender called CIT Corp. is about to go belly up, and take several of its client manufacturers and retailers, etc., with it. Seems those players in the credit default swap casino that's been running, lo these many years, have been betting against it. Do we bail it, or do we not?
Actually, we already have, because way down the article you will see that this commercial lender turned itself into a retail bank in December (Paulson said it would be perfectly alright for anybody who want to, to do this) and has already collected $2.3 billion, I think it was. But they're still gonna crash.
So ... whadda ya say?
The threat is there, why do you think Steele at the DNC is groveling now?
I am not sure that is the best approach, it would be easier to do it within the party. That said there are still many southerners who will “never” vote Republican. I know some, sad but they would knowingly vote for Satan himself first. (sign of ignorance)
So the real question is what is left of the Republican Party if the Conservatives bolt, and how much of the Dems realize that they have been taken for a ride by the Commies. (or care)
Next 6 months will be interesting. Dems imploding by failures in the “economy” and the public in open rebellion against their policies. And at the same time the Conservatives in a full frontal assault on the Left. It can happen.
It won’t be the first time this has happened...Should she be the reason??? Should she be the leader of it???
In my opinion if thise were to happen, it would not be a weak position, or party to be associated with...There is a groundswell of support under the radar for this, and the second someone says go, it is going to be something to see...
And possibly be a part of...
And those people who look at this favorably, had better look beyond the name of this “new” party and look very closely at the “platform” (if they develop one before the announcement), take a look at those who put it together...
I don’t care if they call it the “Booger Picker” party...If it has groundings in true Conservative principles and the platform is consistent to those values...And not get bogged down in trying to please everyone and every issue...Then that would be very attractive to many people in this country right now...
I believe they should pull the trigger soon so we can get started on the local elections this year...Make an impact in 2010, and then decimate the political system in 2012...
Just my opinion...
Palin will NOT be nominated by the Republicans because Crist and the insiders will find a way to freeze her out, just as they stuck the nation with McCain in 2008. Palin will NEVER get the nomination. (So, why waste time and money and effort even trying for it?)
The dynamic in the Big Blue states changes significantly in a three-way race with a damaged Obama, a middling Republican empty suit draining away moderate votes that Obama got in 2008, and Palin galvanizing the committed conservative base. A lot of polls show 38 percent or thereabout conservative in Cali and other big states. If the dullard Republican drains away enough of Obama’s 2008 vote, Palin can win enough of the blue states via plurality to win the election.
The question isn’t can she win as an Independent because she can, at least hypothetically. The reality is she CAN’T win as a Republican because the party insiders and hacks ain’t gonna allow it to happen. The real question is can she govern if she does win as an indie?
No, Instead of a new party we need to form a shadow party. What is a shadow party, you may ask?
Well that is a party that works within the confines of the Republican party, by independently nurturing conservatives to run, and raising money for their candidacy. This shadow party can even have a “pre-primary” before the main primaries to determine the favored conservative. Then fully back whichever conservative wins the pre-primary. Essentially take over the Republican party from within at the grass roots. Just as the far left has taken over the Democrat party, they did it without forming a new party.
We can run our own pre-convention as it were. I think Palin is already sort of doing that. And if you get some wastrel nominated anyway, then maybe you run your guy as an independent (when it makes sense), but then you have a support structure in place.
So no, a new third party is not the answer. We need to rest control of this one from the Rhinos. After all, when we come out in force we do outnumber the moderates of the party by a very large number. We just need to force our will upon the party again, and that happens at the grass roots.
(from Jack Lee) In an ideal world this grand idea about a shadow force would work, but in the real world it is already dead and buried. Please allow me a moment to explain.
Power rests with incumbents and you care assign the power at all levels of the election. The bulk of campaign money always goes to support the person in office which helps insure a re-election until such time he/she chooses to move to the next rung up or out...but, it's rarely out, once in its a career! So, the incumbent almost always selects his successor. To insure his dynasty continues and to help with his/her next election he hand picks a sucessor and then he turns over his list of campaign contributors to the newcomer who assures those people it will be business as usual if they support him. The incumbent with his many political endorsers and fellow incumbents whom he exchanges favors and voters with and for then turn their focus to new-guy to help him get elected. Already in place are the incumbents operatives that control key political sub-groups, such as central committees and related clubs. The operatives are usually in leadership positions and this enables them to steer the club or committee to support new-guy too. Most of this is done and well in place before any other candidates seriously consider making a bid for election and when they do, say 6 months to even a year out, they discover to their chagrin that most avenues that lead to being elected are already closed to them, new-guy owns them. Now the contenders are left to take their case to people, they are woefully underfunded and whatever protests they bring forward about a fix is immediately turned back on them as nothing more than sour grapes. Even innocent bystanders who are not part of the fix naively join the chorus of those supporting new-guy and say, "Look, if he was a good candidate he would have the support of all the endorsers that new-guy has and he would have raised the big money new-guy, but he didn't! And further this means his chances of being elected are slim to none, so won't waste my vote on him, I am supporting new-guy who is endorsed by our outgoing incumbent that I like too."
The chance for anyone outside the dynasty to run and be elected is extremely rare. They have to be self-funded, have their own rival dynasty to use, have their own operatives in place and then they might be able to give the incumbents new-guy a run for his money. In such cases the election cost soar many times the base salary of the position.
In reality those who are in a position to run for office must belong to a very exclusive and narrow club, because the way elections are currently run and within the rules of the game, there is only the dynasty formula that really elects people and it's not as much an election as it is a selection.
This is why I have repeatedly been telling people, we do not have free, fair and open elections. It's a charade and a con game of the highest order. Nobody in either party really encourages good people to step up and run for election. They give lip service and they hold campaign schools, but the hidden reality of what it really takes does not become apparent until an outsider dares to run for election, then they get murdered, they are ripped apart and destroyed by their own party members teamed up with new-guy and the dynasty machine.
Dr. Beckner, this is reality and I wish it were not, but until the ground rules change this is how elections will be run and won for now.
Some ugly stuff out here about Palin...I dunno...
MSNBC: "I do not know what the future holds," Palin said in announcing her departure, set for the end of July. In TV interviews this week, she complained that political adversaries and the media were unfairly targeting her and her family, arguing that such attacks were diverting attention from her agenda.
In another news report...As more information rolls out, Palin's excuses for leaving office become weaker. The ethics complaints were to blame. "Millions of dollars" have been sifted down to less than $300,000-$296,042.58 to be exact. The ethics complaint Palin filed on herself in a political attempt to derail the Branchflower Investigation cost the state $187,797.
That means all of the other complaints combined cost the state $108,245.58. But wait, Alaskan Frank Gwartney's "travelgate" complaint forced Palin to cough up $8,143.62 back to the state coffers. So the net cost of all of the ethics complaints, excluding Palin's expensive political stunt, was $101,101.84.
On June 26, 2007, a joint special session was called to fund a program for low income seniors. The cost of the one day meeting? $103,500.
Here's the rub; Governor Palin aborting her term will end up costing Alaskans more than all of the non-Palin ethics complaints combined. Former legislators I spoke with estimated this session would cost somewhere north of $150,000. $150,000 just to sort out her mess! Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers I've talked to see this "July Surprise" as an expensive constitutional train wreck. Most are projecting the session needing at least a few days.
Let's do the math (Palin cost Alaska):
Branchflower Report: $75,000 (Legislative investigation that found Sarah Palin guilty of abuse of power.)
Palin's own ethics complaint: $187,245.58 (A political tactic filed in an attempt to de-rail the Branchflower Report.)
Special Session (Low estimate):$150,000
PALIN'S cost to the State of Alaska? $402,245.58
"FRIVOLOUS ETHICS COMPLAINERS" cost to the State of Alaska? $101,101.84
Dr. Beckner,
No need for shadow conservatives or any of Jack’s conspiracy theories. The Butte County Republican Party is openly run by a majority of true conservative members. You are welcome to attend our next meeting this Thursday night and meet our membership for yourself. You will find a hard working group of volunteers who believe strongly in the conservative principles that are the platform of our party. I believe if you poll them you’ll find that the overwhelming majority of them also love Sarah Palin, but don’t take my word for it, come to one of our meetings and see for yourself.
You can find out more info about us online at www.butterepublicans.com
"So ... whadda ya say?"
I say if government hadn't used special regulation of the financial industry to effect social change we would never have seen this happen. I say if members of congress and a few buddies from the Clinton administration hadn't been making a s**tload of money and a cartload of votes from this deal they would have made the laws more sensible long before it could develop into a big problem. I say if you can't see that tinkering with regulation is at the root of this you're nuts. Long before any business decisions are made at their boards LAWS are written. Those laws either encourage (or force) good business practices or they encourage (or force) bad business practices.
Crooks like Madoff can only be dealt with through our legal system after the deed is done. We just get to live with that reality. How do we punish stupid, confiscatory, death warrant government? (sadly progressives reward it)
MSNBC? Surely you jest!

Sifted down...now there's an accounting term!
*in a political attempt to derail the Branchflower Investigation*
And the branchflower investigation? It was NOT a politcal attempt to derail the McCain ticket, right? Phfffff! Try this:

Palin Exonerated in Troopergate Investigation
By Terry Trippany
Created 2008-11-03 23:12
An independent investigator hired by the Alaska Personnel Board has determined that state prosecutor Steve Branchflower miscontrued evidence and applied the wrong state laws to determine that Sarah Palin abused her office by firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. *** The report provides vindication for Sarah Palin who had claimed that Branchflower's investigation had been motivated by partisan politics. *** The board decided to release the normally secret findings after Palin waived her privacy rights. According to Fox News [1] the board released the findings as a matter of public interest due to Palin's status as John McCain's running mate in tomorrows election.
*$150,000 just to sort out her mess!*
Her mess? The above shows that both the opposition party and MSNBC (and others) are out to destroy Sarah Palin by spinning this story with lies...again....because they FEAR her!
Tina, what ARE you talking about? What Clinton era regulation got CIT in the mess it's in? This doesn't have anything to do with the the housing bust. This has to do with a financial product of those wildly DEREGULATED days called the credit default swap. This has to do with a recession (which they now tell us officially began in December 2007) that has cut into their earnings so bad that they will not be able to meet notes coming due, and the credit default vultures are circling.
None of your flailing answers the question. CIT is not Madoff. Do we bail them out, or see another line of economic dominos hit the dust?
