In the times we live, I am often reminded of the men who gave all, so that I can enjoy the freedom I do. I guess that is why I get so angry when I see what the current rulers of this country have in store for me, you, and our descendants. Men, greater than I could ever hope to be, offered everything they had in this world, because they wanted freedom for their descendants, us. Freedom that Obama and his socialist friends desire to take away from us all. Well, I have only one question to ask, "Where Are Today's Patriots Who Are Willing To Sacrifice Everything"?

What follows is a what many only read around July 4, but today is a good time to read it again. It is about the sacrifice 56 men offered so that we could be free. As you read what happened to them, consider how afraid we are to even talk about what we must do.

Of the fifty six patriots who signed and pledged their lives, fortunes, and their sacred honor, nine of the fifty six fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. Five men were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died, two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, another had two sons captured, while another twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

What kind of men were these patriots?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured. Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton. At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. Thomas Nelson quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. His own home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution. These were not wild eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged: "For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

Each one of us may be able to tell stories our families have handed down from generation to generation. Fathers, grandfathers, great grandfather, uncles, mothers, and grandmothers who sacrificed everything for a generation of people they would never meet. A generation of people who would one day spit upon their sacrifice, and give back to the king that which they sacrificed all for. God help us, because we don't seem to want to help ourselves like our ancestors did time and time again.

These patriots gave you and me a free and independent America. However, something that the history books never tell you, is that these men were not just fighting against the British Crown and King George. These men "WERE BRITISH SUBJECTS", fighting and willing to die rather than accept what the "ONE" of their day wanted done. Today, many of us have taken our freedom and liberties for granted while traitors like Obama, Kennedy, Ried, Pelosi, and others are prepared to take away the last vestige of freedom we will ever know.

Every man has his own personal boiling point. As I look across the vast landscape of America, I see many reaching theirs. This I believe is by design, the traitors to the Constitution needs for their opposition to do something radical.

Now Obama is sitting back with his violin and waiting for the fire he started to get out of control. When it does he will be able, with the help of his minions in the media, to blame it on his enemies.

It my opinion that this Health Care bill is more than what many believe it to be. Read the contents, I have read many portions, it is a Socialist Constitution. It will strip every form of freedom we have left. I can understand why normally calm individuals are ready to take their pitch forks and storm the castle.

Since we moved from Mexifornia to Texas, we have been inundated with patriots who are ready to go at a moments notice. I am speaking of white, Hispanic, and Black patriots. Do not believe the MSM that is is only crazy old white men who are angry. There is a generation gap in the anger, but there always will be when those who are uneducated do not realize what freedom really means.

Let state unequivocally that I love this country, I love the constitution and the rule of law based on it...but what we are seeing is not that, instead we are on the fast road to tyranny.

Now that ACORN’s budget has been upped from $254 million to $8.5 BILLION does anyone expect the next election will be free and fair?

If there is to be any chance to reestablish a Constitutional rule of law, it will have to be very soon. The last 2 generations have been educated in government institutions by NEA Marxist wannabees....trained to despise and ridicule Constitutional law and the individual freedoms protected therein. They have lived without most of the Constitutionally protected freedoms and liberty for their entire adult lives. So they will not see the need for change and will fight only to keep all the neat things the government doles out to them.

2010 is the point-of-no-return.....from the unrelenting headlong plunge into the dark tyranny that Reagan prophesied in 1964. We can thank ourselves for allowing those in power now to raise our children on the ideas that capitalism and democracy are institutions of the past, and socialism is the only way to move forward.

I’m constantly asking this question, mostly getting cowardly replies about not wanting any trouble. “What would my family do if I went to jail?” And I don’t ask them to “fight,” just whether they’d consider ceasing to subsidize the tax addicts in Washington, who cannot tyrannize anyone, waste anyone’s money, or get into any other mischief, without the tax money that the sheeple meekly and faithfully send them.
People get the govt they deserve...and support.

Instead of hiding behind innuendo and dogwhistles, are any of you "patriots" brave enough to actually admit, in no uncertain terms, that you are contemplating armed revolution (treason) against your government? Because that's what I'm hearing here, yet if you guys were half as willing to do this as you imply, you would just come right and say it without fear.

At this point, I am against armed conflict, if that is what you are referring to. We would be slaughtered without having made any gains. Those folks sacrificed with their lives so we shouldn’t need to.

Its simple. Politics have been hijacked by morality. Our country has two parties.. pro aborts n homosexuals and pro-life traditional marriage. It is time to say enough of this polarization. Right now, I believe those babies are in God’s hands and we need to get ourselves out of this prison in which we have confined ourselves. Having said that, I am a strong Southern Baptist, who believes our spiritual laziness is like Moral welfare. I need to get off my duff and get out there, it’s the model we were given.

Both parties need to go and we need a purely constitutional govt and we can leave the rest to the states and individuals.

I for one am not afraid to say what needs to be said, and as you can see I always use my real name. As I've said before on this and other blogs, I hope I am wrong but I'm afraid we're most likely on the verge of civil war. When you consider that these clowns and Chicago goons, who are pushing their poisonous snake oil, do not know how to handle the notion of the vast majority of Americans voicing objections to their ideas, I think we better start digging in our bunkers and keep our powders on the ready here.

Now, that being said. Allow me to state that, I agree with Mr. Nancy D that “I love this country, I love the constitution and the rule of law based on it...but what we are seeing is not that, instead we are on the fast road to tyranny.” I also do not in any way shape or form endorse armed conflict as a way to deal with problems we face, before all other options have been tried.

However, it's quite obvious there are many very loyal Obamaites, who are acting like poor sports when it comes to people speaking out against the social and political agenda of their messiah and his administration, especially his health care agenda. These Marxists consider any and all such vocal opposition a threat to public safety. Where was this concern when Hillary was demanding the right to disagree with anyone who would dare to shut her up?

For this administration and the government run media to put so much effort into trying to shut us up when there are far more important things to worry about than what people are saying about his social and political agenda. So much so, that he needed an ex president to procure the release of Al Gores reporters from N Korea.

If what “We the People” have to say about Obama or Obamacare or any other part of his social and political agenda then maybe what he needs to do is go pack up his bags and fly off somewhere to a place like Cuba or China where they'd be much more happier to have his kinds of ideas implemented.

Mr President, Just because you or your party win an election doesn't give you a license to go and ram stuff down people's throats. If you don't get it now, you will when the people vote you out of a job in 2012.

But if you find that your are about to be elected out of office in 2012, but then decide you want to use the tactics of the Daily Machine and Acorn with their new $8.5 billion payout to push people around like they did on election day in Philadelphia, to stay in office. At this point I'm with Dr. Beckner. We haven't been able to mount the necessary effort to elect good representatives, what makes us think we could "enroll" the number of patriots necessary to effect the kind of revolution we desire?

Our founders gave us all we need. We are not subjects, we are citizens! We have the right to express ourselves freely and the right to assemble. We can and should educate, inform, and enroll our fellow citizens in the election process. We should remember that we rarely get an ideal candidate so we must always think in terms of moving the country in the desired direction. to often we "patriots" get stuck on a single issue or setback and end up electing those who will do great damage instead.

Our next opportunity is 2010 but the fight is happening now, every day. Elections are only a small skirmishes in a much broader effort. This revolution requires continuous communication, education and petition of our fellow citizens. This is first and foremost a war of the mind and heart. The challenge before us is daunting. Instead of an unacheivable goal of a bloody revolution, we should be preparing ourselves for a longer, more arduous fight...the fight for Americans acting like Americans with hearts, souls and minds dedicated to the ideas of freedom, personal responsibility and excellence.

It took the left many decades to bring us to this low divisive, collectivist, entitlement point in our history. Let us resolve to make it a blip in the long history of our nation. It might takes several decades to bring our nation back to it's intended state. This won't be accomplished with bad attitudes or spiteful anger; it will take dedication, with everyone doing what they can within their own spheres of influence and using whatever talents and abilities they have.

We need to pass the legacy of the founders to future generations. We need to renew the patriot spirit by taking risks and sharing with our co-workers and friends. Teachers need to work in their classrooms, parents around the kitchen table. There are many opportunities every day to teach and inspire.

I get your passion guys...and I love it! Now, let's put that passion and dedication to work in a way that will have lasting value. The failure has been that we took freedom for granted. We failed to pass our heritage to our progeny. We must take responsibility and correct this error. In fact I believe we are at least a third of the way home...maybe a little more. This is no time to go off half cocked. I think what you all really need are some leaders...when you are focused and ready they will be there. The questions are...will you give your all to the greater cause even if they are not ideal leaders? Will you have the courage to trust the process even if the effort experiences minor defeat or setback? Are you prepared to accept even failure and soldier on? Do you have what it takes to persevere until we recreate the America you envision?

Taking up arms would be a piece of cake compared to this greater challenge. I think our founders asked declared (warned)..."a republic if you can keep it."

Are we really talking about living a long lustrous life of plenty with no problems, or are we talking about being a part of history that will change the world forever? With all due respect, Obama's ratings are below what Jimmy Carters were at the same point in his first term, so don't give me Obama is having some enormous approval ratings. As for his ideas, they continually lack even a mere majority of the peoples approval.

As for Bush's approval, I think even Christ would be crucified again if he had the media coverage Bush had for the last eight years. I am not surprised that you would make such statements. After all, you are exactly the same kind of person who thought Hitler was great because 99% of the media loved him. Those who did not did not last long. Looking at the sycophantic media that refuses to even question anything Obama says, he should be at 99% approval. I would worry if I were him. Listen to these town hall meetings, they are democrats, not Republicans, and not conservatives.

Now about your claim that I and others are fomenting hate that would lead to terrorist acts? Do I really need to bring up the numerous events of the last eight years when the left was openly calling for Bush and other conservatives to be assassinated? Hell they even wrote a friggin book about it that the NY times promoted.

It is my constitutional right to threaten the government with revolution if they go too far. I will go so far as to say that the man who made that statement did overthrow a government, and for for much Less of a reason. After reading OV's article on Isaiah I decided to go back and read the book of Isaiah. You remind me of what he wrote,

But you have NOT said. None of you have explicitly said of just what "freedoms" you have been robbed. Only Mr. Nancy comes close, in his angsting over the activities of ACORN ... an organization pledged to mobilize poor people to the polls.

This is, no question, a serious threat to the status quo. Poor people in this country never have voted in sizeable numbers. This has always flumoxed me. Whyever not? The obvious explanation is not kind. It is that poor people tend also to be stupid ... and unable to comprehend the value of the vote.

And it is just possible that it's not really a very good idea to have sizeable quantities of stupid people voting. Look at Iran. The founders, for all the high-flown language in the Constitution, permitted only fellas ... white fellas ... with either inherited wealth or the intellectual wherewithal to acquire wealth, to vote.

Is this what you hanker after? Well, then, stand up and say so. You might possibly persuade us. (Or be tromped ... for the cowards you are.)

I need to adjust one of my earlier statements. I said taking up arms would be a cake walk. Taking up arms is serious business and should never be compared to a cake walk. I was thinking at the time of disorganized bands of angry dudes, something K or Libby would imagine, not the kind of men so aptly characterized by Broken Feather, OV, Nick, John, Jack and others on this blog over the years. The task I speak of is, however, tough in it's own way and requires constant vigilence and dedication.

You just don't get it. The Declaration of Independence states talks about the right to take up arms against the government should it become tyrannical:

OV is asking each of us to consider, has our government become too tyrannical? Had he been thinking in broader terms, beyond this administration and the current debates about health care, cap and trade, and the economy, he would have mentioned that the grievances didn’t begin with this administration.

Apparently the current president doesn't share the ideals of the founders. It's OK for him to organize to win the highest office in the land but it isn't OK for ordinary citizens to organize in opposition to his designs to take control over the health care industry. He's even asking for his orgganized minions to turn the names of people in if they are speaking against the health care bills. Good grief!

Sorry, but I find it interesting how you are very selective in your attempt to keep the language down to a respectful level. I have read many posts where you the editors have used worse language than I have in the way you responded to certain individuals.

There are times when name calling is appropriate, and I for one cannot guarantee that I will not use various adjectives to describe some of the people who comment here. After all, how else am I supposed to point out that certain individuals in my opinion prove, if evolution is a fact, that it can and does go in reverse.

I mean honestly, what is wrong with stating that K has a leak in his/her skylight? Or that Libby is a few pecans short of a fruitcake? Let's be honest here, we are talking about people who in my humble and polite opinion do not know whether they should scratch their watch or wind their butt. Come on people, as far as I can tell their logs may be ablaze but their chimneys are clogged. Why else would they be attempting to blow you know what up my rear with their illogical, emotionally, retarded comments?

It may seem to be dead, but I think Obama will resurrect conservatism (and has in many ways) by demonstrating his leftist, fascist, communist, tendencies with Health Care, CO2 tax, and a general inability to turn a sour economy around with: you guessed it, higher taxes.
If I were gay (and I'm not, thank you) I'd be so pissed I'd vote for a conservative- that way I still couldn't get 'married', but at least I'd have a job.
Maybe this sort of defection can occur on a larger scale than we may predict, but one things for certain- the path we're on won't get us where we should be as the richest state in the Union.

Both parties need to go and we need a purely constitutional govt and we can leave the rest to the states and individuals.

That sir is the key to the whole process. If we can get things back to the state level as defined by the tenth amendment, then we can really eliminate most of what divides the right and thus defeat the left consistently.

However, the left knows that also, so they cannot afford to allow for the states to enforce their tenth amendment rights. That is why you never see them teach about it in schools. When was the last time you heard of a younger person mention the tenth? They don't because they have not been taught the truth about the constitution and the facts about the amendments.
