"Terrorists smuggle fatwas out of secure prisons," by David Leppard - Timesonline

SOME of Britain's most dangerous Al-Qaeda leaders are promoting jihad from inside high-security prisons by smuggling out propaganda for the internet and finding recruits.
In an authoritative report, Quilliam, a think tank funded by the Home Office, claims "mismanagement" by the Prison Service is helping AlQaeda gain recruits and risks "strengthening jihadist movements". ** Abu Qatada, described by MI5 as "Osama Bin Laden's right-hand man in Europe", has published fatwas -- religious rulings -- on the internet from Long Lartin prison, in Worcestershire, calling for holy war and the murder of moderate Muslims, it reveals. ** Abu Doha -- said to be Al-Qaeda's main recruiter in Europe -- has taken courses in Belmarsh prison, south London, enabling him to mentor other inmates. ** Abu Hamza, jailed in 2006 for inciting murder, has preached radical sermons to followers using water pipes in his Belmarsh cell, and Rachid Ramda, the Algerian leader of the Paris Métro bomb plot, led Friday prayers in the same jail. ** Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, shadow security minister, said prisons risked becoming "incubators of extremism". ** Qatada, a radical Islamist cleric who is wanted on terrorism charges in Jordan, is held in the the "supermax" segregation wing of Long Lartin. Built at the height of the IRA's bombing campaign and designed to house dangerous inmates, it should be one of the most secure buildings in the country.

This is what happens when they are not given a military trial and executed. When these terrorists start killing people high up in democratic governments we will probably see a change in how we deal with them. Till then, those naive government types will be more than willing to sacrifice us so their conscience will be clear and they remain so politically correct.

Y'all got minds like sieves. You do remember the Gitmo expose, don't you ???? It wasn't that freakin' long ago, when the McClatchy news service recounted how many petty criminals went into Gitmo petty criminals and came out confirmed Jihadists!

Honest to bleedin' you-know-who !!!!

"You do remember the Gitmo expose, don't you ????"

YES...that was the "expose" that began with the premise, "GWB is guilty" and then set out to prove it. A few tells from one portion of the expose:

according to Afghan local officials

McClatchy's interviews are the most ever conducted with former Guantanamo detainees

The Pentagon declined to discuss the findings. It issued a statement Friday saying that military policy always has been to treat detainees humanely, to investigate credible complaints of abuse and to hold people accountable. The statement says that an al Qaida manual urges detainees to lie about prison conditions once they're released. (as does the Koran)

Many detainees were "swept up in the pot" by large operations conducted by Afghan troops allied with the Americans, said former Army Secretary White, who's now a partner at DKRW Energy, an energy company in Houston. (how stupid is it to put irrelevant information, the fact that former Sec. White now works for an energy company, in the piece...throwing serious doubt on the credibility of all of it)

This is war we're talking about, not romper room. McClatchy might as well be working for the enemy. This BS piece offers aid and comfort to jihadists everywhere...and you are one of the dupes that gives them audience.

"The statement says that an al Qaida manual urges detainees to lie about prison conditions once they're released. (as does the Koran)"

Should have left that last bit off; yes, you should. Can you really not see how this sort of thing demolishes your credibility?

What's more, we are not talking about fellas that went into the jail already Jihadists (who will of course think and say badly of us howsoever), we are talking about fellas who are converted in the jail.

If we are indeed making a "war" (if you must) on islamic terrorists, then shouldn't we be trying to prevent these conversions? "An ounce of prevention ..." and all that sort of thing.

You need to think it ALL THE WAY through.

Libby there is always a reasoned logic behind what you say, and even though we may not always agree, its why I enjoy reading your comments. Of course we should not be in the business of creating jihadists and you are absolutely right in pointing that out.

Then again, it's an imperfect world Lib and we are an imperfect nation.

So yes, we have screwed up at times and created jihadists, but we must not allow ourselves to be divided and side tracked by our past tactical mistakes or even the criminal actions by a few isolated individuals representing us.

Just remember what Italy, Somalia, Germany, Sudan, Sweden, England, Chad, Spain, France, Canada, Malysia all had in common. They all played host to radicalized Islam and they got burned. Theri troubles were not over U.S. Foreign Policies, it was over Islamic extremism!

Remember, your country is NOT always at fault. ; )

"They all played host to radicalized Islam and they got burned."

Not so. They, and we, have played host to Islamic refugees, some of whom, a very, very tiny ... in fact, infinitesimal, proportion of whom, have misbehaved.

Heaven help us all if the majority take up Jihad. But as it is, you be polite ... to the grocer, gas station owner, and all-around-service-provider in your midst. I recently bought gas in Orland from a family of Middle-Eastern descent. I mean ... what does it cost? ... to be polite?

You treat your neighbors decently ... and all the rest will be as ... nothing.

Tina: "...as does the Koran."

Libby: "Should have left that last bit off; yes, you should. Can you really not see how this sort of thing demolishes your credibility?"

Well one woman's opinion but luckily I don't rely on Libby for my information:

When trying to debate with Muhammed worshipers you will end up frustrated and exasperated: Muhammedans are masters of a technique called ‘turnspeak’- they use Tu Quoque (’you do it too-arguments) ‘accuse the accuser’- they employ kitman & taqiyya (lies & deception and dissimulation) they deflect away from the subject matter to avoid getting nailed on the unpleasant things like the atrocities, the rape, the plunder, slavery and child-molesting of the ‘profit’ Mohammed and his companions. Inevitably, if you know your stuff-, you will be cursed, they will threaten to kill you and tell you that you will go to hell for questioning their belief-system.

(scroll down) Lying for Allah is okay, according to the eminent Islamic scholar Imam Ghazali, who wrote: " When it is possible to achieve such an aim by lying but not by telling the truth, it is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible " (Ref: Ahmad Ibn Naqib al-Misri, The Reliance of the Traveller, translated by Nuh Ha Mim Keller , Amana publications, 1997, section r8.2, page 745). ** Imam Ghazali does not say this without knowledge. He is basing his fatwa on the words and examples of the Prophet himself. ** In one hadith we read that the prophet calls upon his followers to assassinate Ka’b ibn Ashraf, the chief of a Jewish tribe who was wary of Muhammad and tells them it is okay to tell a lie to deceive him. Bukhari, Volume 5, #369 ** The fact is that Muslims feel no pang of conscience to lie if that lie is said for Allah’s sake and his religion. If the lie is said for a good cause it is okay.

Certainly there are many Muslims who call themselves moderate. However, I will answer your question just as carefully as I can. This answer is backed up by my own reading of the Koran. I read the book years ago, long before 9/11. I read it word for word and cover to cover. I have also interviewed experts on Islam for my radio show. Here is the cold, painful truth: There are many nominal Muslims but no moderate Muslims. ** What do I mean by nominal? Just as there are people who live in America or Europe who know absolutely nothing about the Bible other than a few choice ideas taken out of context, people who nevertheless call themselves Christians because they were raised with some kind of church background, there are likewise many people born into Muslim countries or raised by Muslim families. If you asked them if they believed in the Koran, they would say, "Yes." If you asked if they believed in the Jihad, they would deny it and they would be telling the truth!!! There are millions of such people and yes, we can call them peaceful Muslims ** However, any Muslim who takes the Koran seriously and literally, who truly understands the entire message, not only accepts the Jihad commands, he/she is also taught that it is OK to lie during a time of war. The Muslim apologist Nadir Ahmed admitted as much to me over the air. When are Muslims not at war? That is a fair question, a question put to Nadir on the radio. He gave a vague, unsatisfactory answer. ** But why not let Mohammad speak for himself? ** "Lying is wrong, except in three things; the lie of a man to his wife to make her content with him, a lie to an enemy, for war is deception, or a lie to settle trouble between people." (Hadith, Mussnad Ahmad 6:459. See Also, Surah 3:28) ** See the problem? Even the so called "moderate" Muslims are allowed to lie and deny that they believe in the Jihad. This explains how the "moderate" organization CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) was caught having ties to terrorist organizations.

"What's more, we are not talking about fellas that went into the jail already Jihadists (who will of course think and say badly of us howsoever), we are talking about fellas who are converted in the jail."

No, we are not. The article begins thusly: "SOME of Britain's most dangerous Al-Qaeda leaders are promoting jihad from inside high-security prisons by smuggling out propaganda for the internet and finding recruits. One of the examples given is: "Abu Hamza, jailed in 2006 for inciting murder"

I think that implies that these men were jihadists prior to conviction and were sent to "high security prisons" after being sentenced. So much for "high security prison" being safe and secure!

"You need to think it ALL THE WAY through."

Right back atcha, Libs!
