On a trip to Japan last year I finally made it to the enormous Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo and there were a few locations where whale meat was displayed and sold at wholesale. It looked like a cross between large wild game (moose, for example) i.e. very dark red with white layers of fat or blubber. Later on we were at a tempura restaurant and one of the things they brought out turned out to be deep fried whale.

Tradition may be one reason why the Japanese still hunt whales, but nutritional value and amazingly delicious rich taste are another two. Like you, I would not personally ever want to harm a whale, dolphin, seal, or any other aquatic mammal. I wouldn't kill and eat a dog either, all are too intelligent for ME to knowingly put them on MY menu.

But, if an activity is legal, does not push a species to extinction (6 ships aren't going to decimate any whale species), creates something actually useful (high caloric value food) and those who oppose it do everything and more under the accepted definitions of sabotage, terrorism, and piracy, the former have IMHO every right in international waters to sink the bastards and hang any they catch from a handy yard arm.

However it is the Whalers who are loaded with explosives (which is a hallmark weapon of terrorists), and the whalers are illegally transporting weapons against the Antarctic Treaty. The Japanese whalers also violated international law by harboring military grade LRAD weapons onboard. This is a direct violation of Article 1. It is against the law to bring military class weapons into that area, and it is the Japanese Whalers who broke it, not Sea Shepherd. This makes the Japanese whalers the terrorist group. And they have found levels ranging from 12 times to over 9,000 times the human limit of contaminants in the meat. Thus, the Japanese Whalers are hurting and damaging thousands of Japanese children. This makes the Japanese whalers akin to poisoning thousands of their own citizens with what is essentially a Chemical weapon. A recent report, coducted IN Japan, BY Japanese research teams, and published IN Tokyo, by Japanese news, showed that 96% of Japanes people DO NOT EAT whale meat. This shows that not only is it NOT a Japanese tradition, but whalers are actually AGAINST 96% of their own people. Whalers are actually only "for" 4% of Japanese people ("for" is in quotes because the Whalers are actually hurting, damaging and poisoning that 4% of Japanese people whom they've duped or forced into ingesting their whale meat). A child, when it's put in his or her school lunch, has little choice but to ingest it. Either that or go hungry that day. So that 4% is not even people who are ingesting it by choice.



Eating whale meat is AGAINST Japanese culture and tradition:



Japanese people DO NOT tend toward eating meat! Eating meat is actually Against Japanese culture. In the year 676 A.D. the Japanese emperor Tenmu in fact BANNED meat! This ban on meat in Japan went on for over 1,200 years!



Yes, you read that right. The eating of meat in Japan was banned. And this has gone on for 1,200 years. This became interwoven in Japanese culture, and something that has been enforced for over 1,000 years is japanese tradition, not something that a group of whale killers decided to do, against their own people, only a few years ago, under the false ruse of fake "scientific research".



Eating whale meat is actually a FOREIGN WESTERN idea. ANSWER: Amigraf's post is false. The activities of the Japanese whalers have now been ruled illegal. And this includes by experts in international law. UNCLOS is one of the pertinent documents codifying the Law of the Sea, and those that have now ruled the Japanese in violation include those that actually AUTHORED portions of UNCLOS. In addition, the whalers are wanted by Federal Authorities for breach of the EPBC Act. In addition, the Whalers illegally entered French sovereign territorial waters and are being investigated by authorities. And in addition, the Japanese killers broke Article 1 of the Antarctic Treaty and are in violation. Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. are all considering international legal action against the Japanese Whalers in International Court.

One more time, in case you didn't get it: The U.N. Charter is on the side of Sea Shepherd. The LAW is already on the side of Sea Shepherd. This includes the UN Charter, sub paragraphs (a),(b), and (e), Sections 21 through 24, which grant authority AGAINST the Japanese whalers, and FOR Sea Shepherd.

The Japanese have been ruled to be the ones in violation of international law. Not Sea Shepherd. The Japanese Whalers have already been CONVICTED of Federal Crimes. The Japanese Whalers are in violation of Article 1 of the Antarctic Treaty. The Japanese whalers violated the EPBC Act. AND the Japanese Whalers have official resolutions of condemnation against them by a whole multitude of countries including the United States.

The LAW is not the problem it has already been proven that the Japanese have breached the law. They have even been convicted in court, and ruled illegal according to International Law, that includes the UN, and that includes "international waters". We're talking UNCLOS here, and the AT, section 1.

The problem is enforcement. This what Sea Shepherd has been saying (and doing) this entire time. Once again, the LAW need not be altered, the Law already comes down on the side against the whalers, the problem is simply that the Japanese Whalers go and travel 9,000 miles out of their own territorial waters, down into the EEZ zone in Australian, New Zealand, French, and Antarctic waters, and commit these acts and attempt to get away with it. Because no one is enforcing it! (Except Sea Shepherd).

Next thing you'll see, is someone piping in with "oh, well, they shouldn't be down there, they should leave it to "the authorities" to enforce it." -- Well, that is the very thing that Sea Shepherd has been saying! WE shouldn't have to be down here, the authorities should be doing this! SeaShepherd clearly and on every occasion possible states that same thing! Nothing would make SeaShepherd happier than to NOT have to go down there, and have Australian Courts capture and imprison the whalers who have already been convicted in court, or have New Zealand's Naval fleet go down there and takeover the task. But this is the problem that SSCS has stated the entire time: It's not the LAW that is the problem, enough Laws already exist against the illegal whalers, they are already convicted and have been found operating illegally. I can paste you a whole data sheet on how Citric Acid (according to that same data sheet you pasted, which has already been debunked) can suffocate, asphyxiate you, has harmful fumes, is harmful of inhaled, is corrosive, caustic to the skin, and can cause harm to the human eye, and hazardous to the lung, and should be handled as a HazMat substance. -- GUESS WHAT: Citric acid is in your Sunny Delight fruit drink. Butyric Acid is buffered, it is gentle, it is bio-degradable, none of it that SSCS has comes from any animal sources, and is akin to a glop of old butter. The only thing butyric acid does, aside from actuall IMPROVING your health, is it smells bad. This is similar to how people take "garlic" supplements. Good for you, but it doesn't smell that great.

Japanese Pro Whalers cry that butyric acid is some kind of terrorist weapon--So who says butyric acid is a health food? = You know who? Japan is who says it is a health food! Law Enforcement on probable cause, and when an individual is suspected of being engaged in the commission of a crime regularly enters vehicles. And premises too, for that matter. And this also in the case of Law enforcement during the commission of a crime, can include breaking down the door if they want. In addition, officials are also authorized to issue the service of a WARRANT. It's called "getting served."

Federal Court issued a ruling and found the Japanese Whalers guilty of violating Federal Law. Sea Shepherd transported the court documents, on-board, to the location where the illegal whalers could be found. Police and Law Enforcement Service of a Subpoena, or Service of a Warrant is equivalent to SSCS authorized Boarding to deliver the Document of Legal Notice to the captain of the Japanese Whaling vessel.

Thus, boarding the Japanese ship by SSCS was fully authorized, indeed commanded. It is neer an act of piracy, and you can look it up in the UNCLOS documents regarding the Law of the Sea.

The Sea Shepherd is most definitely a terriorist organization. They shuld be stopped! I do Not understand how any country would allow this terriorist organization to fly their flag.

The Sea Shepherds are terrorist. It does not matter if the Japanese are illegally whaling; that does not give the Sea Shepherds the right to illegally board Japanese vessels and to assault Japanese crew members. The Sea Shepherds are trying to elevate the importance of organization to a quasi law enforcement organization. If anyone can board the vessel of any organization you disagree with does that mean that I can round up a crew and attack and board the Sea Shepherd vessels. I do not support whaling but I also do not support the criminal activities of the Sea Shepherds. It is disgraceful that the United States has not taken steps to end this terrorist organization. Bob Barker and everyone else that donates to this terrorist organization are grossly misguided.

This "Sea Shepherd" group is very interesting...It's odd how they are able to get away with damaging other peoples property without have actions taken against them. Paul Watson is on interpols wanted list. I seriously doubt he has the authority to participate in any kind of law enforcement. I just came across this stupid website and article and i am amazed by the comments from both sides. Speacilly this "One Vike" person ( perhaps a Japanese d-bag.
So first of all, are you saying (February 10/10, 3:31pm), that the japs are hunting and killing whales so they won't starve or do they give the meat to "Humans all over the world " from the goodness of their hearts? Do you have any idea how much they charge for 1kg of whale meat?
Second, when was the last time you used your divine powers and talked to God?did he personally tell you that we are here to "manage the earth"? Who the hell do you think we are and what qualifies us to manage the earth and its creatures?
