The Price of Punishing the GOP
by Jack Lee
The prayer by Pastor Joe Wright displayed in the previous editorial echoed many of my personal frustrations and feelings about the direction this nation is going, probably yours too. It's part of the reason I'm disappointed with the Republican Party. There were times recently when I felt the GOP needed a good whipping at the ballot box. I figured then they will wake up and get back to the issues and values that propelled them into power in both houses and the Presidency.
Unfortunately, the people that would benefit from a GOP defeat are the same people that have trying to make us think traditional wrongs are our "rights". They call themselves progressives, but I don't think they are bringing us any progress. What I see happening is a slow surrendering of bits and pieces of our national character to accommodate the broadest possible consensus.
Our national character is not something that should be subject to the whims of political movements. That character is a projection right from our original foundation that was built with timeless, universal truths derived from the Bible. These Christian values are woven into every guiding principle we've ever had in this country's history. When progressives attempt to denigrate or re-write that Christian heritage and replace it with their interpretation of secular political correctness, we are coming closer to that black moral abyss that has consumed many great nations throughout history.
If this is what happens when we punish the GOP for their failures, then the price is too high. I'll vote the Republican ticket once again and then work to get them back to where they should be. I hope you will too.

Jack, One good that has come from the polls and the well publicized anger and disappointment within the republican electorate is the message it sent. I think they have gotten the message loud and clear in this process. If they are returned this time and still do not perform they will no doubt put the republicans out for a good long time. This is, of course, the hope of the "progressive"....socialist democrat party leaders. As you have said, that eventuality will not bode well for America.

As always Tina, you have illustrated the best of what could come from all this and you make an excellent point. Now, I just hope we get to find out that you were right!
