Audiences reject Iraq war— at the box office
Washington Times, by Christian Toto
It doesn't matter how many Oscar winners are in front of or behind the camera — audiences are proving to be conscientious objectors when it comes to this fall's surge of antiwar and anti-Bush films. Both ''In the Valley of Elah'' and, more recently, ''Rendition'' drew minuscule crowds upon their release, which doesn't bode well for the ongoing stream of films critical of the Iraq war and the Bush administration's wider war on terror.
Last Friday rather than wasting my time and money on “Rendition” I saw “We Own the Night” with River Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg cast as brothers who find themselves on opposite sides in a drug war. Robert Duvall plays their father. (adult themes, language, etc.)

Tina, Robert Redford has one coming out as well, “lions for lambs.” One of the tag lines is basically that it isn't the fault of those who attacked us, it's our fault.
Looks like another one to avoid.
Isn't it funny that when the left doesn't have public opinion with them, in an issue like ending the war in Iraq now, (and believe me, beyond all of their rhetoric, if they had public support, they would have passed one of their ill conceived plans to do so) Their buddies in Hollywood gin up the propaganda machine to try to manipulate public perception.
This lack of interest at the box office gives me hope that we are regaining the ability to separate fantasy from reality, and substance from show.
Looks like more bad news for a Clinton bid for the presidency.
