Question of the Day RE: Insurgent Libertarians

by Jack Lee

The Washington Post has raised the question, are Libertarians essentially "insurgents" as they have been referred to in a recent news article and if so, should we behead them or drive them into the sea? Any thoughts?

Jack -

There is a lot of talk that Ron Paul could be pondering a run as a Libertarian.

If he did, we'd have a redux of 1992 when Perot helped elect Clinton.

That rumor could also be as true as the rumors about John Doolittle retiring...

Aaron I'm not sure how Ron Paul could do that, everybody knows he IS a Libertarian running as a republican and that has been his strategy from day one.

As for Doolittle retiring, I know you were joking, but in reality I don't see that ever, EVER happening, no matter what follows! He is in denial and refuses to see the serious judgement errors he has made, the FBI probe notwithstanding. I'm afraid his last act of defiance will be to turn over his seat to a democrat in a republican district. But, at least the CRA will have the satisfaction of knowing they stood by their man till the bitter end.

Jack - happy turkey day!

Wanna bet a steak dinner on weather the 4th CD goes over to a Dem?

Hi Aaron, and Happy Thanksgiving to you, your brother and your families!

Sorry I can't take that bet, it would mean betting against our party and then I would be rooting to buy you a steak dinner!lol I would prefer to celebrate "with you" when we hang on to that congressional seat anyway we can.

Maybe it's just my lone opinion, but I think 2008 will be a very defining race for the GOP. Given the spending, the price of oil/gasoline, Iraq costs, the lending implosion, theere's a lot of anger and frustration building up among the voters (reflected by political approval ratings) and we could well be in for some serious election setbacks unless we come up with a new direction.

Republicans in general need to get revved up and involved too, because we can't afford any appathy in this election. There's too much is one the line! And "To whom much is given, much is expected."
