American Idol

Written by Jack Lee

smithson-col.jpgCarly Smithson was voted off American Idol! She says, "I am cool", but the public voted to boot her anyway. Was it her tattoos or her weirdo Islander husband with his Fijian-Moari warrior tattoos? Was it her choice of songs, like doing "Jesus Christ Super Star" as her last solo? Some think this final song about Jesus put people off or perhaps it was her crooked tooth? Well, who knows for sure, but Carly isn't too disappointed about coming in 6th. She thinks this could restart her singing career that flopped when she was just 15. At that time her first contract sold less than 700 records. As a parting shot Carly said she thinks American's may have misunderstood her pop culture look and message with ther tats, odd dress, etc.

Misunderstood or is it understood?

Smithson's departure leaves five contestants Syesha Mercado (my favorite), David Cook, David Archuleta (my #2), Brooke White and Jason Castro in the run for a recording contract and a shot at stardom.

Jack,

American Idol is beneath you, I like the following article about oil better. I can't stand celebrity worship gossip columns at all.

How about a serious discussion on the hottest political race going on in Northern California right now, the McClintock/Ose race for Congress? You had plenty of comments about Congressman Doolittle before, how about letting us know the pros and cons of the two battling to replace him? Which one do you support? Which one do our local elected officials support? Now THAT would be a topic worthy of discussion!

It's diversity and besides writing about politics all the time gets boring. I'll take you up on the Congressional race though, I think that is going to be a battle. I'm gathering the information and I am going to provide you with some insider content you won't find anywhere else. This will be good!
