Daniel Morgenstern - Consumer Hero

by Jack Lee

This is a story about how one person made a big difference...

On several occasions Post Scripts published articles alerting you to a fraud, commonly known as the "Rife Machine" sold on the internet and eBay. This bunk machine produces radio "frequencies" that are supposed to match the "frequencies" that are alleged to bind the viruses that make us sick (all nonsense). According to the non-medical inventor, Raymond Royal Rife, a 1930's quack, this machine would destroy all viruses and cure all diseases, including cancer which he called a virus.

Despite advances in medical science to dispel all of Rife's theories as sheer quackery many desperate people have turned to the Rife machine for a cure. This makes the Rife fraud a particularly despicable scam because it scams seriously ill people, sometimes diverting them away from real medical help.

(Note: I know some of you may be wondering...no, not one person was every cured of anything by a Rife Machine, it's a total hoax that plays on the distrust with modern medicine and the wacky thoughts from conspiracy nuts.)

Although there were complaints eBay continued to allow the sales of Rife Machines on their site. Now enter one Daniel Morgenstern. Daniel persisted where others had given up and after many attempts he finally persuaded eBay to stop selling the Rife Machine. However, they still allowed sellers to publish links to quack articles and sales outlets. Daniel took them to task again and eBay has now finally shut down all connections to the Rife fraudsters!

Daniel you're a hero. You have taken the lead to do a great public service and save many victims from a terrible medical fraud! Kudos’ to you sir, I wish we had more like you!
