Meet Michael Yon – Blogger and Warrior

Posted by Tina

I'd like to alert you to a new book by Michael Yon: “Moment of Truth in Iraq – How a New ‘Greatest Generation’ of American Soldiers is Turning Defeat and Disaster into Victory and Hope”.

Michael has made an enormous contribution as historian and witness to the bravery and commitment of our military and to the long and difficult unfolding of our efforts in Iraq. His writing offers an in the moment view of events from a Special Forces veteran:

There was a quick and heavy volume of fire. And then LTC Kurilla was shot. Kurilla was running when he was hit - in three places, including his femur, which was shattered. ** "The commander didn't seem to miss a stride. He did a crazy judo roll and came up shooting from a sitting position,"

Yon has more time embedded with combat units than any other journalist. You can purchase Michael Yon’s book on his website. I understand it’s up to #8 on the NYT bestseller list. Let’s move it to #1. Your purchase will also help to fund the vital mission he has assigned to himself – reporting accurately from Iraq. If you hurry you can get an autographed copy…good reading!

You mean bloggers aren't warriors???

Weeelll...you're right, we're ALL warriors, but...

Not all of us are actual military types (as you are) and few of us are "Special Forces" vets who have spent a lot of time blogging on the war with boots on the ground as Michael has. Makes my contribution pale by comparison...and rightly so. I figure this book will be a very good historical diary.

I know I was just being silly. Good story!

Of course you were...and I was just having trouble putting myself in the same category as a real warrior, blogging from a real war zone...I'm not exactly taking "sniper fire" as I sit here in my jamies...and, I can't imagine embellishing my roll or padding my resume either! ;-D
