Whaaa...USA Begs to Help "Their" People?!
Posted by Jack Lee
Until late yesterday the Burmese government refused our repeated offers of help for the disaster victims. We were practically begging to send them relief supplies and they were turning their backs on us. What little aid does get in must be repackaged so it looks like it came from the military junta or supplies are diverted to the black market to strengthen the Burmese regime.
"U.S. Marine spokesman Lt. Col. Douglas Powell said there are 11,000 service members and four ships in the region for an annual military exercise, Cobra Gold, that could be harnessed to help the mercy mission. Three U.S. Navy ships in the Bay of Bengal were sailing closer to Burma on Monday, ready to aid cyclone victims if they are given permission.."
Today some relief supplies are being allowed in. What do you want to bet we paid off somebody in the government?
"...the reclusive junta insists it will handle the aid distribution itself, through its feared military, which has ruled the country with an iron fist since 1962. Many people have complained that they are getting rotting rice and that soldiers are keeping the best food for themselves."
Question: SHOULD THE UNITED STATES HAVE WALKED AWAY AFTER THE JUNTA REFUSED OUR HELP?

Toby is so shy about expressing himself!
I understand his point. However, I'm in favor of helping the people who are suffering greatly. If we could encourage the "rotting" of the military JUNTA that would work for me.
We are a blessed nation...acts of kindness from a country so blessed will reap rewards. In fact I believe, on a spiritual level at least, we have been blessed because of our generosity and compassion...including when we acted as LIBERATORS.
