Appeasement and North Korea

by Soaps

Appeasement worked for Jimmy Carter and got him a Nobel Peace prize. Remember when he went to North Korea and negotiated a nuke deal with the ruthless narcisistic dictator? Carter gave the NK Communists some of our advanced nuclear technology on the promise that they would use it for peaceful energy production and not nuclear weapons. History shows that now North Korea has not a single nuclear power plant, but it does have untold numbers of nuclear weapons.

    Wow!
We’re going back to blame Jimmy Carter??????
We can’t go back and blame Bush for anything–like destroying our economy–but going back over thirty years is OK.
Boy, oh boy! You TEA baggerz have NO shame, do you?

  2. Post Scripts says:

Soaps is not a member of the Tea Party. Citing Carter’s actions was a historical reference. What’s wrong with that?

  3. Tina says:

Q: “Wow! * We’re going back to blame Jimmy Carter??????”

Why not? You often go back to blame Reagan…you don’t have enough class or respect to call him by name but we know who you mean.

“We can’t go back and blame Bush for anything–like destroying our economy…”

Of course not, that would be grossly inaccurate! We have demonstrated on many occasions the direct causes for the housing bubble and the worldwide economic collapse. The root of the root can be found in the policies of Clinton and Carter to force bankers to make housing loans to people who could not afford them. the policy was generously watered, fertilized, and defended by Barney Frank and others in Congress. Meanwhile, as Fannie and Freddie bought up the toxic bundled loans, several Democrats made a bundle for themselves on the deal (Gorelic and Raines being two). NOT A SINGLE BUSH POLICY had anything to do with this world-wide failure. His attempts to get Congress to change it fell on deaf ears. (Must I post the video)

Democrats never bother with the unintended consequences of their feel good policies! The public continues to pay and pay and pay for their ignorance and lack of principled thought.

I did not realize Soaps wasn’t in the TEA party.
    He reasons like a TEA partier. . . . . .
He insults people he doesn’t even know like a TEA partier. . . .
    Oh, well.
    My bad.

“We have demonstrated on many occasions the direct causes for the housing bubble and the worldwide economic collapse. You can “demonstrate” this nonsense all you want, and it will never make it the truth. Others will “demonstrate” other reasons. You all lie.
The “Root” of our problem is the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. It is that simple.
Try not to overcomplicate things, Tina. You’re WAY over your head, here.
Crack a book, get educated. THEN post.

    “He reasons like a TEA partier. . . . . . He insults people he doesn’t even know like a TEA partier. . . ”

Q, I can’t accept your litmus test. I don’t know Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Karl Marx, Joseph Mengele or Harry Reid either. but I know what they did to millions of people – isn’t that what counts most?

  6. Tina says:

Q: “He insults people he doesn’t even know like a TEA partier. . . .”

Soaps insults people? HA! (Hold that mirror up old boy!)

“You can “demonstrate” this nonsense all you want, and it will never make it the truth.”

Oh…so you want THE truth. Sorry, you and I would have to be God Himself to get to THE truth.

But in terms of Barney Frank and the legislation enacted under Carter and again under Clinton (with their blessings) is a matter of record.

“Try not to overcomplicate things, Tina. You’re WAY over your head, here. ** Crack a book, get educated. THEN post.”

Ooooo…you’re threats are so scary!!! This type of insult continueseven though it is you who offers almost nothing in terms of information or educated opinion. In fact, at least 95% of what you post is INSULT. YAWN!!!

    More analysis of Quentin’s comments…

I did not realize Soaps wasn’t in the TEA party.
    He reasons like a TEA partier. . . . . .”

Logical Fallacy: ad hominem, No example of faulty logic is provided although it is infered. We are left to assume with no evidence that Tea Partier’s are somehow deficient in their reasoning.)

“He insults people he doesn’t even know like a TEA partier. . . .”

(In this case Quentin makes what can be implied as a Logical Fallacy, ad hominem, then he makes a statement which implies that one cannot pass judgement with out presumably personally knowing someone. Which seems odd since he began his comments by insulting Bush who he presumably does not personally know.)

    “Oh, well.
    My bad.”
(so far this is the only statement he has made which doesn’t appear to have any serious logical or reasoning issues.)

“We have demonstrated on many occasions the direct causes for the housing bubble and the worldwide economic collapse. The root of the root can be found in the policies of Clinton and Carter to force bankers to make housing loans to people who could not afford them. the policy was generously watered, fertilized, and defended by Barney Frank and others in Congress.”

You can “demonstrate” this nonsense all you want, and it will never make it the truth. Others will “demonstrate” other reasons. You all lie.

(Im not sure who he means here by “You all lie” since the theory expressed here is held by many people. I am not sure if he means to imply that anyone who purports such reasoning as a rational conclusion is a liar or just the people on this page. To suggest that such policies had absolutely nothing to do with the housing boom seems naive given the idea that a policy which was designed to directly effect decisions made by banks and indirectly the federal reserve which Quentin blames for everything. Furthermore it calls into question a comment Quentin made earlier when he implied that reaching back 30 years (first post) was somehow faulty due to the mere fact that other events relating to the subject happened more recently. If that logic is relevant than the opposition is presumably free to use the same tactic now claiming that since the Fed was created long before the legislation in question Quentin is wrong. Clearly another logical fallacy)

The “Root” of our problem is the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. It is that simple.
Try not to over complicate things, Tina. You’re WAY over your head, here.

(This statement is broken down into Logical fallacies, ad hominem possible appeal to authority using himself as the authority which by the rest of us must submit. and possibly faulty comparison. Regardless of any other evidence. Quentin holds himself up to be an ultimate authority here capable of single handling refuting opposing theories based almost entirely off of his opposition to them. the other problem he runs into is that his opponents have not rejected the notion that the Fed bears responsibility merely that the creation of the Fed cannot be the sole factor since the mere creation of a Federal reserve doesn’t by fiat ensure a housing boom or bust.)

Crack a book, get educated. THEN post.

(This statement assumes that since Tina does not agree with Quentin it is due to a lack of education. Quentin uses this sort of personal attack a great deal from what I have observed. It could be said that a great many of Quentin’s posts appear to be a string of ad hominem attacks holding hands.)

  8. Post Scripts says:

Nick, would the short form be Quentin assumes too much? : )

  9. Nick F says:

sorry about the first comment, I meant implied, not inferred.
