Looking Forward

by Jack

Okay, it’s over for….now. But, we’ve got another turn at bat coming up in November. If we lose then you can consider Obamacare nonrefundable and nonnegotiable, a done deal. I admit the President looks like he is a little stronger for this favorable SC decision, but don’t be too sure. He’s lost some his credibility with his voter base because of his now famous line, “Its not a tax!” So, in the wake of the SC decision the blessings are at best… mixed. Many Dems are wishing he had just sold it like it was, a tax, a really big tax. Because his deception is going to cost him some votes from within his own base that he really can’t afford to lose.

If the truth be known, Romney has probably gained some fence-sitter voters. People are riled up now and they are worried about the costs of his healthcare plan. If we can keep up the pressure, we have a decent chance of defeating Obama in Nov. However, to do that we’re going to need all the refuse-to-vote protesters out here to jump back in and vote! We will also need all the Independents and the Libertarians and I hope they will just once more suck it up and vote for what they see as the lesser of two evils and help out Romney and their country. If we can come together on this we’ve got a real shot at winning in Nov. The lesser of two evils has never been a great pitch to win votes, but this time the deciding difference is the economy. Obama is weak and Romney is strong…that’s the deciding difference and why we need your vote.

Jack, Jack, Jack…I wish I could believe that…I really, really do…BUT…

When the choice in November is between the inventor of Obammie Care and the implementor of Obammie Care its pretty d@mn clear Obammie Care is here to stay. (Until the economy and country collapse, of course.)

At least that is the fear from up here in the cheap seats..

And Jack…be careful out there…be very, very careful…on your farm…in your orchard…in your garden…the rattle snakes are everywhere this year…it must be an election year!!!

Keep yer eyes peeled for these critters and for politicians…er…sorry…I repeat myself.

And keep yer ears peeled for that rattle…you know…the noise Schwab, Hokum and Walker make when they want to take away yer grocery bags…

You don’t want to wind up like this lady…no warning at all…

try to get out of your own element for a while. Go to to anywhere but where you normally hang out and keep your ears open.
Obama 48%, 40 States plus DC
Romney 41%, 10 States (all of the South except Virginia).
This will not even be close!

  3. outside the comfort zone says:

However, there IS a solution for those who want a country where they don’t have universal healthcare. A country where marriage is strictly defined as between a man and a woman; a low, flat tax; very few entitlements; a country where they re not afraid to drill, drill, drill; a country where they have respect for God.
    They can move to Iran.

  4. Post Scripts says:

Joseph….That’s a big rattler alright! Okay, I got a funny story for you: About 25 years ago I actually did come across one like that, only just a bit smaller.

We were pig hunting on Hogs Back Ridge, above Red Bluff and we were following an animal trail on a hillside. I was walking point and my hunting buddies were spread out in single file behind me. At times we couldn’t see more than 4-6 feet ahead because of the tall dry summer grass, then suddenly there he was on the trail, a big fat rattler, all coiled up and buzzing. Naturally I froze and when I did, everyone behind me did too. We knew we were in snake country and we were all looking, so it wasn’t a total surprise.

I realized he was probably just outside his strike range, but its kinda hard to calculate when they are coiled. However, I felt even if he did strike he would likely just catch a boot or my jeans. So just as a joke I did a quick draw, gunfighter style. But, to my surprise and I’m sure everyone elses, it was a perfect head shot – lights out rattlesnake. I could have tried that another 100 times and never made that same shot, but I never admitted that part! lol

  5. Post Scripts says:

Outside: You might be right., but polling says otherwise, polling says its a close race. I have no idea how accurate that polling is, but neither do you.

What we (conservatives) must overcome is not going to be easy. The democrats are rightly making a lot of hay out of Romney’s own words when he said his healthcare was not a tax. Sure it was, just like Obama’s. His State plan was very close to Obama’s plan too and this very hard to defend, because many Romney detractors are saying there isn’t enough difference between the two to warrant removing Obama.

Obama took a number of big chances this year on 3rd rail issues like gay marriage, gays in the military and healthcare reform. I won’t fault him for not having the courage of his convictions…he has that! And I can’t deny that his issues seem to be more in step with where America is going than our conservative issues. I just take strong exception to where we are going! I think we’re headed into socialism and Obama is doing everything legally possible to sidestep the Constitution. What he has done was wrong for America, IMHO. I also think he’s made way too many economic mistakes and it’s cost us dearly and we can’t afford another 4 years of blunders.

The heavy costs of his healthcare plan that is imposed on citizens under threat by the IRS and coming at this low point in the economy seems reckless and ill advised. I also think there were better ways to accomplish this reform, but it is what it is and we shall have to wait and see how the voters like it.

  6. Harriet says:

Outside your comfort zone, if we were in Iran, the government would track us down and shoot us for having this conversation.

  7. Tina says:

    Harriet good point.

I’m amazed at the lengths our opponents will go to in their efforts to intimidate us into silence. Geesh!

  8. Tina says:

Jack: “Many Dems are wishing he had just sold it like it was, a tax, a really big tax. Because his deception is going to cost him some votes from within his own base…”

Take a look at this article written by “Georgetown Law professor Randy Barnett, who has been described as the legal architect behind challenges to the health care law”

    http://washingtonexaminer.com/randy-barnett-says-roberts-tax-power-argument-is-lame-but-easily-fixed/article/2501028

  9. Post Scripts says:

Tina, thanks I read it. It pretty much mirrors my own thoughts and what you have been saying here. Roberts ruling is weak and won’t stand the test of time.

  10. TS Elliot says:

    Let me guess:
you will do this November what you did last time?
    And the time before that?

Are you expecting a a different result?

  11. Joseph says:

Dang Jack, I did not know you are such a good shot.

But heck, with your charisma you coulda charmed the rattle off that big ol snake and made a pet out of him.

And I’m sure he would have then been a well behaved and very polite snake.

And heck, you could have used him to talk some since in to those DemoNcrats. After all, they are animal lovers, right?

  12. Joseph says:

Boy, the DemoNcrats here are quite sure of themselves…

Maybe they are right and Obammie wins in a landslide but I doubt it…at the very least it will be close.

And imagined how shocked they will be if their lord and saviour loses.

  13. Post Scripts says:

    Joseph..thanks lol.

I doubt that snake would have bit a democrat – professional courtesy you know!

  14. Tina says:

TS…I’ll bet you too will be doing the same thing you did last time and the time before that. How many of your candidates have actually made it to the WH?

  15. Libby says:

But Jack’s got his Medicare on the one hand, and his VA on the other, and nothing at all to worry about.

Ain’t that right, you proponent of the free-market, you?

  16. juanita says:

Well, if Obama does win, we can impeach him. Hey, there’s a silver lining in every cloud.

Here’s my prediction – the economy is going to flatline again pretty soon, and everything is going to change – like during the Great Depression.

And, my family is going to stop producing. We already have, pretty much, we just get by. We don’t make any money, so we don’t have to pay taxes to the feds, and the pissant fine for Obamacare will be less than a couple thousand dollars to us.

We already know the insurance scam – Obamacare won’t change that. You will only get as good of care as you can afford, just like now. They’ll have to let you into the hospital, they won’t be able to “deny care,” and then they’ll comfort you while you die, based on what you were able to pay for insurance.

That’s the death machine. They just won’t help you unless you paid for the right kind of insurance. Just like a Chico doctor told my mom, back in 2000 – “you don’t even have insurance Mrs. Sumner, what do you expect me to do?” And then he told her she should go home and get her affairs in order.

But I believe this will give rise to a new kind of doctor, the doctor who wants to help people rather than enrich him/herself. I had a doctor like that, but he died at 82 years of age, and now my family is on our own. I know there are young people with good morals out there, I might not live to see it, but some day our medical industry will turn back on itself.

  17. Post Scripts says:

Libby, I sense a tone of hostility here, that’s so unlike you. Libs I never said I wasn’t concerned about fair and affordable access to healthcare for citizens. Nobody in this country should have to do without decent medical care. We just differ on how it could be accomplished. My daughter makes too much to be on welfare and too little to afford anything more than the piss poor insurance her company doles out and for years she didn’t even get that. So I do empathize, I do get it Libs, but is Obamacare the only way under the sun to achieve our mutual goal?

  18. Tina says:

Do doctors rake in the cash in an unreasonable manner? I don’t think they do. Here’s some information that offers some perspective.

    http://medical-news.medrounds.org/2009/01/how-much-do-doctors-and-physicians-make.html

doctors make a huge financial investment (e.g., an average of $140,000 in school debt vs. the average debt of $20,000 for college graduates), at least 11 years of schooling and training after high school

Physicians who do not do surgery make an average of $119,000 – $205,000 per year. In contrast, surgeons make an average of $192,000 – $299,000 per year.

Doctors don’t begin to make money until they’re 28-30 years old. When they do enter into practice the risk involves an investment as they build the practice.
Medical malpractice insurance is expensive and takes a big chunk out of their salary:

    http://mdsalaries.blogspot.com/#Medical_Malpractice_Premium

    Internal Medicine: $41000
    General Surgery: $92000
    Obstetric and Gynecology: $128000

Doctor salaries are not unrealistic, especially when compared to other occupations. The following is from 2004 but it still offers a general comparison:

    http://www.sacmag.com/Sacramento-Magazine/April-2004/How-Much-Do-They-Make/

    County Executive Officer (Placer) $155,132$197,988
County Director Health and Human Services $107,461$137,148
    Insurance Sales Agent, $48,153
    Accountant, Teichert Construction, $58,800
    Computer Software Engineers, Applications, $77,537
    Forensic Science Technicians, $44,268
Digital Print Operator, University of California, $43,824$51,588
    Librarian, California State University, $72,912$108,744
    High School Math Teacher, $52,005
    Evening TV News Anchor, $140,000$440,000
SAC Kings player Rodney Buford, $221,226
    Registered Nurse, Sutter Health, $62,400
    Radiological Technician, Sutter Health, $51,000
    Curator, Sacramento Zoo, $54,255$81,383
    Probation Officer, $66,253
    Brick Mason, $41,044

When a doctor of internal medicine makes an equivalent salary to an insurance agent and less than a registered nurse it’s difficult to say they are overpaid. that nurse for instance will get overtime pay and considerable benefits with few expenses related to her profession. A doc has some overhead: rent, employee costs, power and lights, etc. The big bonus for docs & patients because of Obamacare? More time and money to comply with piles of new regulations and less time/money to spend with/on patients.

The bureaucracy wins again. Good job progressives!

  19. Tina says:

Affordable healthcare is what Republicans are working to achieve. Healthcare that is not overburdened by big bureaucracy will cost less and insurance will cost less. The safety net we already have in place will cost less.

A few of the solutions Republicans in Congress are ready to enact to address the concerns that Americans have: 1. Risk pools created at the state level ensuring that those with preexisting conditions can get covered. 2. Insurances sold across state lines to create greater competition and help to eliminate monopolistic tendencies. 3. Healthcare vouchers or tax credit for individuals so that insurance companies have to accommodate the consumers needs and ability to pay. 4. Power vested in the states to design safety net healthcare programs that their citizens need/want. 5. Tort reform

All of these will help to drive costs down.

If we can get people back to work, create stable growth, and bring healthcare costs down everybody will win. We have been enacting policy that has the exact opposite effect. It’s insane.

Going forward their are two very different visions for America. One vision (Obama) sees the citizen as serf, the other (Romney) sees citizen as the innovator and creator of prosperity for himself and for others. Obama’s vision makes government the hero in our lives, Romney’s vision makes individuals the hero in their own lives. Obama’s vision encourages dependency and sloth, Romney’s vision encourages self-improvement, effort, and contribution.

We celebrate the founding of this nation this week. Which vision reflects the vision of the founders? Which vision offers every American a shot at a life filled with vitality, participation, a sense of belonging, and great satisfaction?

  20. Post Scripts says:

    Tina, that was well said.

Never let government do what we can do for ourselves. The framers of the Constitution understood that simple concept and they made a big point of making that clear to everyone who takes the time to read the Constitution. However, the left has other ideas. They have done every imaginable to get around that document to suit their own purposes and grow government (as if gov needed any help). That part is very disturbing.

  21. Harriet says:

Libby if Jack is getting VA benefits that means he served this country honorably, Medicare we get when we turn 65, we are now paying $100.00 a month premium plus we pay for the Supplement.

My feeling on Obama care is that it should have only addressed those who cannot get insurance because they are on the border line of earnings, Help those folks pay for their insurance why include everyone.
We will end up under total government one payer system, then we will wait for two years to get major health care, it is happening now in European Countries that have this type of care. WE have the best although flawed but at least we do not have a long wait.

Libby, why is it that liberals so often get sarcastic and mean when discussing anything?

  22. Peggy says:

    Harriet: “…why include everyone.”

To pay for those that can’t/don’t. Nothing is free? Insurance will be paid with premiums and taxes, and now a new tax on the premiums.

Repeat, nothing is free. Someone has to pay for all of this. If not me, then you and everyone else must. Doctors, nurses, hospitals don’t work for free. Rx’s also cost for research and development before they’re made available.

Call it a tax, call it a mandated fine it’s all the same money being taken from our pocket, not by choice. Our government has become our parent telling us how we are going to spend our money.

I’m an adult and resent being treated like a child. And I resent anyone who lies to me to force me to act as they want. “We the people” are supposed to be the adults and our government to do our will, not the reverse.

  23. Harriet says:

What I meant by “Why include Everyone” under the health Care Law is that those who have insurance do not want these horrific changes,

People who have insurance through their employer or on their own are ok, those who are very poor get Medicaid or something like it, Then the 65 and over crowd like my husband and I have medicare, the people that fall through the cracks are the ones that need help to get insurance,
there is no need to destroy our system.
Interesting that all of congress, this Administration, Union members are exempt.
    That leaves the “Average Person”.
I agree with you I resent being told what to do by government, It is “We the People” right?

  24. Libby says:

“We celebrate the founding of this nation this week. Which vision reflects the vision of the founders? Which vision offers every American a shot at a life filled with vitality, participation, a sense of belonging, and great satisfaction?”

And if you work for one of those small businesses that employ about half the people in this great land, and don’t offer health care coverage … Tina, Peggy and Harriet, they wish you luck, and that’s all.
