Conflict of Interest: Holder Justice Puts Obama Supporter/Donor in Charge of IRS Tea Party Targeting Investigation

Posted by Tina

The woman Eric Holder has chosen to head up the criminal investigation into IRS targeting of the tea party is an Obama supprter and donor according to the Washington Times:

“The department has created a startling conflict of interest,” House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and subcommittee Chairman Jim Jordan said in a letter, reviewed by The Washington Times, which was sent Wednesday. “It is unbelievable that the department would choose such an individual to examine the federal government’s systematic targeting and harassment of organizations opposed to the president’s policies.”

The IRS’s internal auditor revealed last May that the agency had been inappropriately targeting and blocking applications for tax-exempt status from tea party and conservative-leaning groups, and in the immediate aftermath Mr. Obama promised the FBI and Justice Department would investigate whether the IRS broke any laws.

Eight months later, the investigation has not produced any public findings, and Mr. Issa says they have stonewalled his efforts to find out what’s going on.

The woman’ name is Barbara Kay Bosserman. She has donated more than $6,000 to Mr. Obama’s campaigns and to the national Democratic Party.

Like the voters whose civil rights were violated when New Black Panther activists intimidated them in front of the voting polls the American citizens who were unjustly targeted by the IRS can get no justice under this administration and its corrupt justice department.

Politics is not tax free. The federal Law needs to be enforced. All non profit Political orgs need to be taxed regardless of Party.

The IRS guidelines do not follow the Federal Law passed by congress almost 100 years ago. That is the scandal. The law clearly states “exclusively social welfare” No political Party falls under that.

There is a simple solution to the explosion of dark money-fueled electioneering by 501c4s. Reclassify all 501c4 groups as 527 organizations. Groups organized under section 527 of the federal tax code can do as much politicking as they want, but they have to disclose their donors, while 501c4 social welfare nonprofits can keep their funding sources secret.

We need to sue the IRS for not obeying federal law.

Not to mention the Tea Party acts like it was all about them. Many Democrat Non profits were under scrutiny but the story on them was buried by the bought out media.

Truth be told we are trying to sue the IRS for allowing the 1% to buy out our political system.

But I fail to see why the Tea Party thinks they do anything for the social welfare of the people. The people voted against the Tea Party candidates.

The federal law is not listed at the IRS site. I have seen bloggers refer to their site. The problem is the IRS does not follow the actual law and we are suing them

So even going by the IRS regulations passed against the actual fed law what part of the Tea Party is for the social welfare of all the people? It is ALL POLITICS ALL THE TIME.

We will take our government back as a united people not overthrow it for the Global Corporate Rule and the sleeping Giant is waking up…The People

And not a peep about Christy’s little Bully tactics! He is the GOP #1 for 2016! LOL not for long though

Workers of the world unite, eh Dewey?

Your views do not represent the people of this country. Your views represent the Marxists in countries like the old Soviet Union, Castro’s Cuba, and Hugo Cavez’s Venezuela.

You hate the Koch brothers because they have money and influence on the right but the billionire businessman investor George Soros doesn’t bother you since his money and influence serve the same Marxist causes that you favor.

The Tea Party and conservative groups targeted by the IRS are at least as qualified for nonprofit status as the many hundreds of leftist political groups that don’t even bother trying to pose as legitimate nonprofits. They are political organizations and everyone knows it.

Many of the organizations listed here have non profit designations but are practicing leftist political organizations. Moveon.org is one of the most prominent. All are funded by billionaire George Soros directly or indirectly.

You are wrong about the IRS targeting of conservative groups being business as ususal and nothing of concern.

The IRS examines groups as part of its ongoing process. They flag those groups that seem questionable. The IRS has a department that does this work. During the period in question a few left leaning organizations were “flagged” and treated in the usual manner…none were actually targeted for extra scrutiny as the Tea Party groups were. This should make all Americans extremely angry. It’s telling that you dismiss it.

    Washington Times:

The IRS inspector general said this week that while some liberal groups were given extra scrutiny by the tax agency, they were not subjected to the same invasive queries as tea party groups — a finding that seems to confirm a political bias was at play.

In a letter sent late Wednesday and released Thursday, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George said that just 30 percent of groups with the word “progressive” in their name were put through special scrutiny for tax-exempt applications, but 100 percent of groups with “tea party,” “patriot” or “9/12” in their name were subjected to invasive questioning.

“TIGTA concluded that inappropriate criteria were used to identify potential political cases for extra scrutiny — specifically, the criteria listed in our audit report. From our audit work, we did not find evidence that the criteria you identified, labeled “Progressives,” were used by the IRS to select potential political cases during the 2010 to 2012 time frame we audited,” Mr. George said.

Rep. Dave Camp, Michigan Republican and chairman of the House and Ways Committee, said the evidence shows conservatives were being systematically targeted — not just flagged.

    The Gateway Pundit:

… the Inspector General confirmed that 292 conservative groups were targeted by the IRS. Only 6 liberal groups were targeted.conservative-groups-just-6-liberal-groups

    NPR:

A House Ways and Means Committee staff analysis of the applications of 111 conservative and progressive groups applying for tax exempt status found conservative applicants faced “more questions, more denials, more delays,” says committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich.

That is, when the IRS sent groups letters asking for further information, conservative groups were asked more questions — on average, three times more. All of the groups with “progressive” in their name were ultimately approved, while only 46 percent of conservative groups won approval. Others are still waiting for an answer or gave up. (see chart)

    Washington Examiner:

“In a remarkable admission that is likely to rock the Internal Revenue Service again, testimony released Thursday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp reveals that an agent involved in reviewing tax exempt applications from conservative groups told a committee investigator that the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups, three months after the IRS scandal erupted.

One woman who founded two seperate organizations as targeted bythe IRS and then several agencies, one after another. National Review:

Catherine Engelbrecht’s tale has all the markings of a classic conspiracy theory: She says she thinks that because of her peaceful political activity, she and her family were targeted for scrutiny by hostile federal agencies. … On the same day they received the questions from the IRS, Catherine says, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) launched an unscheduled audit of their machine shop, forcing the Engelbrechts to drop everything planned for that day. Though the Engelbrechts have a Class 7 license, which allows them to make component parts for guns, they do not manufacture firearms. Catherine said that while the ATF had a right to conduct the audit, “it was odd that they did it completely unannounced, and they took five, six hours. . . . It was so extensive. It just felt kind of weird.” …

…That was in February. In July, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration paid a visit to Engelbrecht Manufacturing while Bryan, Catherine, and their children were out of town. The OSHA inspector talked with the managerial staff and employees, inspecting the premises minutely. But Bryan says the agent found only “little Mickey Mouse stuff, like, ‘You have safety glasses on, but not the right kind; the forklift has a seatbelt, but not the right kind.’” Yet Catherine and Bryan said the OSHA inspector complimented them on their tightly run shop and said she didn’t know why she had been sent to examine it.

Not long after, the tab arrived. OSHA was imposing $25,000 in fines on Engelbrecht Manufacturing. They eventually worked it down to $17,500, and Bryan says they may have tried to contest the fines to drive them even lower, but “we didn’t want to make any more waves, because we don’t know [how much further] OSHA could reach.” …

…The next month, in November 2012, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the state’s environmental agency, showed up for an unscheduled audit at Engelbrecht Manufacturing. Catherine says the inspector told her the agency had received a complaint but couldn’t provide any more details. After the inspection, the agency notified the Engelbrechts that they needed to pay for an additional mechanical permit, which cost about $2,000 per year.

Since then, the IRS has sent two further rounds of questions to Catherine for her organizations. And last month, the ATF conducted a second unscheduled audit at Engelbrecht Manufacturing.

Catherine says she still hasn’t received IRS approval for her nonprofits, though she filed nearly three years ago.

I call that organized harrassment and intimidation! I call that overstepping authority!. I call that using tactics similar the Stasi in Soviet controlled East Germany!

Tea Party members, your fellow American, enjoy the same Constitutional privileges and rights that you do and yet you would applaud the oppression of them and have them denied those rights. This is an indication that you do not support the American system or appreciate the freedom it affords you.

Christie is NOT my #1 candidate. Nor is he the TP candidate of choice, I’m betting.

Democrats don’t have much going for them either in Hillary, Biden and Warren…every one involved in some sort of shenanigans or scandal.

Who do you support for President next time?
