Three Women and a Baby

Posted by Tina

The worlds first “married lesbian threesome” is expecting a baby girl and plan to have two more children, one for each of them, because “the kids shouldn’t outnumber the parents”. The Massachusettes group arranged the most binding legal agreement possible for three women after two of them were married and then drew up a contract to include the third with the help of a lawyer. The child was conceived though an anonymous sperm donor. The women were given away by their fathers in a marriage style ceremony:

The plan at the moment is that Kitten will bear all the children – possibly using her wives’ eggs and donated sperm – but they are open to other options, such as adoption.

Brynn, 34, says: ‘The hope is to have three kids altogether. We always joke that the children should never outnumber the parents.’

The so-called ‘throuple’ worked with a specialist family lawyer who drew up the paperwork and drafted the ceremony so that all three of them were obligated and bound to each other .

While Brynn and Kitten are legally married, Doll is handfasted to both so the threesome are as equally married to each other as legally possible.

I wish the well.

    In related news:

Well, conservatives warned us this would happen, but we didn’t listen. Liberals pooh-poohed suggestions that clergy would be threatened with jail time by the government over the decision whether or not to recognize same-sex marriages, but in North Carolina, that’s exactly what’s happened.

See, in 2012 North Carolina voters approved Amendment One, which bans gay marriage in the state. State law also forbids clergy members from performing wedding ceremonies without a valid marriage license. So now the United Church of Christ, which supports marriage equality, is suing the state of North Carolina for violating their rights to religious freedom.

Under the law, “ministers who marry couples without a marriage license can face misdemeanor charges punishable by up to 120 days in jail.”

Conservatives have long argued that same-sex couples should free to engage in religious marriage ceremonies, as long as they are not issued a marriage license by the state. They’ve also argued that clergy members should be free to exercise discretion in what types of marriage ceremonies they will perform. But in North Carolina, same-sex couples and sympathetic clergy are denied these religious freedoms.

To date, there is not a single documented case of a clergy member being forced to perform a wedding ceremony against their conscience, or punished by the government for refusing to do so. Yet we do have a case of clergy members being threatened with state punishment for performing wedding ceremonies the state doesn’t approve of.

I’m sure conservatives will immediately denounce this gross violation of religious freedom.
