In the News: Bags to Riches, Etc.

Governor Brown signed legislation to ban the plastic bag in California:

The new law goes into effect for large grocery chains and pharmacies beginning July 1, 2015. It will extend to convenience stores and liquor stores July 1, 2016.

Under the law, stores will be required to offer customers recycled paper bags or bags made of compostable material at a cost of at least 10 cents. Consumers buying groceries using California’s food-assistance program won’t have to pay for bags.

The law also provides $2 million in state-backed loans to help businesses transition to reuseable bags.

Californians will muddle through. I will be using alternate plastic bags to clean up after the cats and dogs.

And the “riches” you ask?

Glad you did…I think it’s really really rich that FOX NEWS has Nabbed an “historic cable ratings victory!”

Third-Quarter 2014 Primetime Averages

FNC: 1,797,000 viewers, up 12 percent (313,000 adults 25-54, up 12 percent)
CNN: 555,000 viewers, up 2 percent (186,000 adults 25-54, up 4 percent)
MSNBC: 557,000 viewers, down 2 percent (150 adults 25-54, down 21 percent)
HLN: 352,000 viewers, down 4 percent (120 adults 25-54, down 12 percent)

Yes! I am gloating! But only because of the silly attacks on Fox News.

And finally: The President’s approval rating has dropped to 35%. 60 minutes reportedly saw viewers drop off when the President was featured on that show last week. I think his excuses and failures have finally met up with reality. The question most significant going forward…can he…will he alter his approach?

GD Demoncrats, can’t even have a dam ned plastic shopping bag in this state anymore…and you have to pay at least 10 cents each for a paper bag? And I supposed they tax you on the purchase. Unless you’re on food stamps, of course, then you don’t have to be “environmentally conscious.”

Why, oh why, can’t we have a separate state? The Demoncrats won’t even let it get on the ballot.

Sounds about right MSNBC is boycotted during the day and some boycott all day due to It becoming another Republican station starting with Morning Smoe, Having Andrea Greenspan wife of Alan Greenspan to the Cycle where SE Cup came from….they are a RW station and boycotted.

Good news I say! Boycotts working!

People get their Independent news on internet channels now. Many are buying ROKU to hook internet channels to TV. I am getting one now. 1 show left for me on cable.

Goodbye network news in another decade if they do not stop lying.

Lord, save us all from the meddlers and busy bodies!

Bob making that kind of change would take incredible dedication over several years. It’s hard to make that kind of commitment for most people. But there are counties that have already voted to go forward with the cause. Maybe this bag thing will spark a few discussions.

  4. bob says:

I re-use all my plastic and paper grocery bags. The plastic ones are excellent for lining trash cans and picking up all the excrement from my neighbor’s dog who happens to be a DemoNcrat.

So what will I use when they outlaw the stores from giving me them? I will have to buy plastic bags. Bags which are generally thicker and thus use more energy to manufacture and take longer to degrade.

I would think people will be pretty pissed off the first time they go into the store and there are no plastic bags and you get stuck paying 10 cents plus tax for each paper bag and then you see the person on food stamps getting all the paper bags they want for free. That should really make people angry.

  5. bob says:

So next year they outlaw plastic bags and AB 32 kicks in and our fuel costs go up. This will be on top of the monstrous increases in water and soon PG&E bills this year.

But the idiot Colliefornians (as Ahnode calls ’em) will never put the blame where it belongs, on these DemoNcrat politicians. They will re-elect the Brown Buzard and all the other criminal DemoNcrats in a landslide and I bet no Republican wins a state wide office again.

  6. bob says:

So now that the state has outlawed plastic grocery bags I wonder if the idiots on the city council will waste more of their time and our tax dollars implementing the local ordinance they passed which was supposed to start in January. The state law takes effect in July.

  7. J. Soden says:

Expect an initiative drive soon on this. But unless it’s a constitutional amendment, the Lunkhead Legislators in Sacramento can still screw it up.
    Voters, WAKE UP OUT THERE!

Bob with so much to be angry, disgusted and discouraged over it’s nice to see you do still have a sense of humor…really got me with this one: “…and picking up all the excrement from my neighbor’s dog who happens to be a DemoNcrat.”

Would that be the neighbor or the dog? If it’s the dog we should get his name purged from the voter rolls 😉

No, the dog is a Doggocrat.

Mr. Decimal, if this bag ban is about ridding the world of the evils of plastic why don’t they extend it to other forms of plastic? And why do they force the retailers to charge us 10 cents for a paper bag? It’s all about sticking it to the little people!

  10. Tina says:

Also we have plastic bags only because the radical environmentalist thought they were better than paper and were willing to destroy the logging industry, and all of the jobs, to prove it!
