Thousands Take to the Streets in Cities Across America

CHICAGO/NEW YORK (Reuters) – Demonstrators marched in cities across the United States on Wednesday to protest against Republican Donald Trump’s surprise presidential election win, blasting his campaign rhetoric about wanting a safe America by thoroughly vetting Muslims immigrants coming from radical Islamic countries, deporting hard core illegal alien criminals as fast as possible and cutting off federal funding to sanctuary cities.

In New York, thousands filled streets in midtown Manhattan as they made their way to Trump Tower, Trump’s gilded home on Fifth Avenue. Hundreds of others gathered at a Manhattan park and shouted “Not my president.”

In Los Angeles, protesters sat on the 110 and 101 highway interchange, blocking traffic on one of the city’s main arteries as police in riot gear tried to clear them. Some 13 protesters were arrested, a local CBS affiliate reported.

An earlier rally and march in Los Angeles drew more than 5,000 people, many of them high school and college students, local media reported.

A demonstration of more than 6,000 people blocked traffic in Oakland, California, police said. Protesters threw objects at police in riot gear, burned trash in the middle of an intersection, set off fireworks and smashed store front windows of businesses that had nothing to do politics.

Police responded by throwing chemical irritants at the protesters, according to a Reuters witness.  No arrests were made.

Two officers were injured in Oakland and two police squad cars were damaged, Johnna Watson, spokeswoman for the Oakland Police Department told CNN.

In downtown Chicago, an estimated 1,800 people gathered outside the Trump International Hotel and Tower, chanting phrases like “No Trump! No KKK! No racist USA.”  Which was about as accurate as the ever popular militant slogan, “Hands up – Don’t Shoot!”  Lucky for these rabid protesters that stupidity isn’t illegal or they would all be in prison.

Chicago police closed roads in the area, impeding the demonstrators’ path. There were no immediate reports of arrests or violence there.

“I’m just really terrified about what is happening in this country,” said 22-year-old Adriana Rizzo in Chicago, who was holding a sign that read: “Enjoy your rights while you can.”  She was unable to state exactly what rights.  Maybe it was our right to a free and fair election?  Maybe she meant our Second Amendment rights which have been eroding for the last two decades?  We’ll never know because the reporter in this story was not interested in asking her relevant questions.

In Seattle, police responded to a shooting with multiple victims near the scene of anti-Trump protests. Police said it was unrelated to the demonstrations, but it was put in this story because we wanted you to think it was.

Protesters railed against Trump’s campaign pledge to build a wall along the border with Mexico to keep immigrants from entering the United States illegally.

Hundreds also gathered in Philadelphia, Boston and Portland, Oregon, on Wednesday evening. In Austin, the Texas capital, about 400 people marched through the streets, police said.

A representative of the Trump campaign did not respond immediately to requests for comment on the protests. Trump said in his victory speech he would be president for all Americans, saying: “It is time for us to come together as one united people.”

Earlier this month, his campaign rejected the support of a Ku Klux Klan newspaper and said that “Mr. Trump and his campaign denounces hate in any form.”  Trump has stated many, many times, that he wants nothing to do with any hate organization, but the mainstream media keeps the false narrative alive asking the same stupid KKK question over and over.  It’s obvious why they do it.

San Francisco just might be singing a different tune once Fed $$ is cut off to sanctuary cities! Time to wake up and smell the coffee, SF!

    • Libby says:

Or … California, the world’s ninth (I believe it is) largest economy, could cease sending revenue to the fed. That’ll bring the hinterland to heel quick enough.

You forget … you are not a majority anywhere … and positively not here.

The hinterland forgets … that it lives on our charity.

And I expect The Donald, who has been made aware of all this and much more besides, has a throbbing pain behind his third eye that he is unlikely to lose for four long years.

Our educational system has gone completely to $#!^ if these morons are any indication. They don’t have an inkling that they’ve been had, that nothing they’ve learned is accurate or useful.

      Sad.

    • Libby says:

You heard what I told Jack. Trump spent his campaign threatening legal citizens of the United States. Don’t expect them to take it quietly.

But you can expect him to back right off.

Starting the deportations of illegals promptly will cut the participation in the protests/riots down considerably.

  6. Libby says:

I just found out that this “Not My President” thing may really take off. I had not known that you’ve lost your 200,000 voter majority. Isn’t that sad?

The Change.Org petition to the Electoral College has topped 3 million signatures in 3 days. That’s … interesting.

And now there’s a petition up to abolish the Electoral College altogether, which is certainly worth looking into. The college was actually set up to protect the republic from the peasants … but it does not seem to be working well.

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby, I heard this from one of your leftists internet sites so it must all be true. All immigration is going to be halted and deportation started on January 1. All Democrats politicians will be sent to Trump’s salt mines for forced labor. All Democrats will have to have an ID number stamped on their forehead starting with 666-. Global warming is going to destroy any chance of you living happy now, because Trump wants dirty air and water. No hope for a clean, safe earth for you! And it gets worse: All democrats who voted for Hillary will be sent to camps to get their minds right. Its over Libs, flee for your life, run away quickly before January 1st. “Trump is coming to get ya!” *scary music* Whoooo – ooooh lol

      • Libby says:

Jack, The Orange One has spent the last 18 months encouraging the base among us in their baseless. How do you think it’s going to work out? I mean, we do have inklings … don’t we?

        • Post Scripts says:

Libby, I honestly have no idea how Trumps presidency will work out. All I know is Trump was like a kick in the shins to many in Congress and the Senate. They had it coming too, for their failure to deliver urgently needed reforms to the tax code (simplified taxes), on wasteful spending, on the deficit, on campaign finance reform, on immigration and on healthcare. They are collecting a lot of money and benefits being public servants, but they do not serve the public and your side is the worst. They do stuff we can’t afford and are spending us bankrupt – my side are just lazy dopes looking for a fat paycheck. Between the two houses, the public is screwed. So Trump may be a pox on both their houses, at least that is what I hope for. Maybe they will finally get the message….their careers are at risk and this time by God we mean it!

“Libby, I honestly have no idea how Trumps presidency will work out.”

And do you want to explain why you didn’t give the matter a little more thought before the election? Because some of us took note of the enormous gulf between the bloviating … and anything resembling character.

I expect that Pooty also has taken note. Isis is quite literally dancing in the street. When whichever bad actor it is decides to try his luck, here, or in Estonia, or anywhere in the Middle East, every single corpse is on you.

            You think about that.

I am harsh, I know, but you, and the hundred million who could not rise up off their larded asses on 11/8, need to realize … this ain’t no game … this ain’t no GD Apprentice episode.

  7. Peggy says:

It was an interesting day hearing liberal newscasters and commentators imploding today as they realized the DNC lied to them and they fell for it hook, line and sinker. Their realization that they participated with the biased support of and slanted reporting was one of the main reasons Trump was elected as our president.

They all thought Americans were too stupid to figure out the truth about Hillary, how bad the economy really is, the job market is in the toilet, because they’re living it in their homes all across the country. Small towns across the country are suffering while those living high in DC and broadcasting from NY are telling them how wonder everything is.

Trump was smart enough to see it a couple of years ago and based his whole campaign on it. He built a movement by talking directly to the people, all them blue collar workers and homemakers who are trying to pay the rent/mortgage and feed their families on part-time jobs, because they’d lost their full-time jobs a result of ObamaCare.

Democrats are mad at the DNC, and are looking for someone anyone to get the power position back. Howard Dean wants his old position back as chair. The media is waking up a little after realizing what fools they were and the rolls they played in getting Trump elected.

I’m not gloating, because like Pie I didn’t vote FOR Trump, because I too had figured out that living in Calif. with the electoral college votes all going to Clinton my vote wasn’t going to count anyway. I was hoping and praying the rest of the country would step up to keep Hillary out of the WH. Thank God they did. Otherwise, I was praying that neither Trump or Hillary would get to the 270 EC required and the 12th Amendment would kick in.

Trump wasn’t my choice, but by God I’ll give him a chance at least and keep on prying for another miracle.

To fight Trump, journalists have dispensed with objectivity:
“Why are the rules of journalism being rewritten this election year?
My local newspaper, the Sonoma County Press-Democrat, is so clearly in the tank for Hillary Clinton that I no longer take pleasure in my morning read. Trumpā€™s acceptance speech, for example, was covered on the front page with two stories: on the left a straight, albeit somewhat judgmental,Ā account of the speech, and on the right a ā€œfact checkā€ that disputed every point made by the GOP nominee. Clintonā€™s speech was covered with three front page stories, with headlines describing her nomination as ā€œhistoric,ā€ ā€œinspiringā€ and ā€œtrailblazing.ā€ A relatively mild fact-checking piece was relegated to the back pages.”

    • Libby says:

“Iā€™m not gloating, because like Pie I didnā€™t vote FOR Trump ….”

      Ah, the hypocrisy thickens.

And will that be a great salve to the conscience in the years to come? I doubt it. We’ll have to see how it shakes out.

It’s quite possible, even likely, that you’re not getting anything he promised you: no wall, no Muslim registry, no dismantling of the ACA. And I will be rubbing your little noses into that as well. Suckered again … and all to satisfy the vanity of a crotch grabber. There’s something to be proud of.

  8. Pie Guevara says:

If Lippy and her like minded fools wish to eliminate the electoral college I say go ahead! Knock yourselves out!

You put together a constitutional convention and give it a go. Otherwise STFU. You morons are going nowhere, and it would be a good thing for you to concentrate your efforts on just that, going nowhere.

    • Libby says:

That is, of course, worth looking into … but the thing of more immediate interest is that Trump’s electors are not legally bound to vote for Trump. Have you noticed how quiet The Orange One has been of late?

      Chortle.

  9. Peggy says:

    Dear Democrats and Liberals,
I’m noticing that a lot of you aren’t graciously accepting the fact that your candidate lost. In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those of us who voted for Trump.

Some of you are apparently “triggered”. Because you are posting how “sick” you feel about the results.

How did this happen you ask.

You created “us” when you attacked our freedom of speech.
You created “us” when you attacked our right to bear arms.
You created “us” when you attacked our Christian beliefs.
You created “us” when you constantly referred to us as racists.
You created “us” when you constantly called us xenophobic.
You created “us” when you told us to get on board or get out of the way.
You created “us” when you forced us to buy health care and then financially penalized us for not participating.
You created “us” when you allowed our jobs to continue to leave our country.
You created “us” when you attacked our flag.
You created “us” when you confused women’s rights with feminism.
You created “us” when you began to immasculate men.
You created “us” when you decided to make our children soft.
You created “us” when you decided to vote for progressive ideals.
You created “us” when you attacked our way of life.
You created “us” when you decided to let our government get out of control.
“You” created “us” the silent majority.

And we became fed up and we pushed back and spoke up.
And we did it with ballots, not bullets.
