A Thanksgiving Message from President-Elect Donald Trump

We are very blessed to call this nation our home, and that’s what America is – it is our home. It’s where we raise our families, care for our loved ones, look our for our neighbors, and live out our dreams.

It’s my prayer that on this Thanksgiving we begin to heal our divisions and move forward as one country strengthened by shared purpose, and very, very common resolve.

In declaring this national holiday, President Lincoln called upon Americans to speak with one voice and one heart. That’s just what we have to do.

We’ve just finished a long and bruising political campaign. Emotions are raw, and tensions just don’t heal overnight. It doesn’t go quickly, unfortunately.

But we have before us the chance now to make history together. To bring real change to Washington, real safety to our cities, and real prosperity to our communities, including our inner-cities – so important to me, and so important to our country. But to succeed, we must enlist the effort of our entire nation.

This historic political campaign is now over but now begins a great national campaign to rebuild our country and to restore the full promise of America for all of our people.

I’m asking you to join me in this effort.

It’s time to restore the bonds of trust between citizens, because when America is unified there is nothing beyond our reach – and I mean absolutely nothing.

Let us give thanks for all that we have, and let us boldly face the exciting new frontiers that lie ahead.

Thank you. God Bless you. And God Bless America.

Scroll down for video here. Thanks to Peggy for the link; I can’t think of a better way to honor this holiday than with a message from our new president-elect. We at Post Scripts wish each and every one of you a happy Thanksgiving!

One of our most important holidays is Thanksgiving Day, known in France as le Jour de Merci Donnant.

Le Jour de Merci Donnant was first started by a group of Pilgrims (Pèlerins) who fled from l’Angleterre before the McCarran Act to found a colony in the New World (le Nouveau Monde) where they could shoot Indians (les Peaux-Rouges) and eat turkey (dinde) to their heart’s content.

They landed at a place called Plymouth (now a famous voiture Américaine) in a wooden sailing ship called the Mayflower (or Fleur de Mai) in 1620. But while the Pèlerins were killing the dindes, the Peaux-Rouges were killing the Pèlerins, and there were several hard winters ahead for both of them. The only way the Peaux- Rouges helped the Pèlerins was when they taught them to grow corn (maïs).The reason they did this was because they liked corn with their Pèlerins.

In 1623, after another harsh year, the Pèlerins’ crops were so good that they decided to have a celebration and give thanks because more maïs was raised by the Pèlerins than Pèlerins were killed by Peaux-Rouges.

Every year on the Jour de Merci Donnant, parents tell their children an amusing story about the first celebration.

It concerns a brave capitaine named Miles Standish (known in France as Kilomètres Deboutish) and a young, shy lieutenant named Jean Alden. Both of them were in love with a flower of Plymouth called Priscilla Mullens (no translation). The vieux capitaine said to the jeune lieutenant:

“Go to the damsel Priscilla (allez très vite chez Priscilla), the loveliest maiden of Plymouth (la plus jolie demoiselle de Plymouth). Say that a blunt old captain, a man not of words but of action (un vieux Fanfan la Tulipe), offers his hand and his heart, the hand and heart of a soldier. Not in these words, you know, but this, in short, is my meaning.

“I am a maker of war (je suis un fabricant de la guerre) and not a maker of phrases. You, bred as a scholar (vous, qui êtes pain comme un étudiant), can say it in elegant language, such as you read in your books of the pleadings and wooings of lovers, such as you think best adapted to win the heart of the maiden.”

Although Jean was fit to be tied (convenable à être emballé), friendship prevailed over love and he went to his duty. But instead of using elegant language, he blurted out his mission.Priscilla was muted with amazement and sorrow (rendue muette par l’étonnement et la tristesse).

At length she exclaimed, interrupting the ominous silence: “If the great captain of Plymouth is so very eager to wed me, why does he not come himself and take the trouble to woo me?” (Où est-il, le vieux Kilomètres? Pourquoi ne vient-il pas auprès de moi pour tenter sa chance?)

Jean said that Kilomètres Deboutish was very busy and didn’t have time for those things. He staggered on, telling what a wonderful husband Kilomètres would make. Finally Priscilla arched her eyebrows and said in a tremulous voice, “Why don’t you speak for yourself, Jean?” (Chacun à son goût.)

And so, on the fourth Thursday in November, American families sit down at a large table brimming with tasty dishes, and for the only time during the year eat better than the French do.

No one can deny that le Jour de Merci Donnant is a grande fête and no matter how well fed American families are, they never forget to give thanks to Kilomètres Deboutish, who made this great day possible.

(This column first appeared in the International Herald Tribune many, many Thanksgivings ago.)

Time to check the turkey. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Here’s some good news for college students from an organization that is fighting to make a positive difference.

Students Fed Up with Politically Biased Professors Are Hitting Back with a New Weapon: Professor Watch List:

“Conservative student organization, Turning Point USA, has released a new project called the Professor WatchList. The website enables students and parents to research professors that have a history of promoting a radical liberal agenda in their classrooms.

Boasting 1000 plus chapters nationwide and a presence in all 50 states, the four-year-old organization prides itself on developing conservative activists who stand up to big government in and out of their universities. The Professor WatchList is a culmination of years of information gathering from conservative students who feel that radical leaning professors give no space for unpopular thinking in the classroom. Think of the website as the new ratemyprofessor.com but for conservative, libertarian-leaning students.

Charlie Kirk told Independent Journal Review the site is merely a tool for students to help them make informed choices. Kirk writes:

“Alumni, donors, parents, and students deserve to know the biases that exist in our universities. This is an awareness tool, not calling for termination or action. We simply seek to educate the public on the radical behavior that has taken over our colleges and universities.”

The mission of the project is simple:

“…to expose and document college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.”
Kirk said that the website is entirely based on past real-life incidents of professors with a history of spreading radical liberal bias in their classes.”

  8. Dewster says:

Thanksgiving? One must remember the genocide of the True Americans. Not the lies we were taught in school.

Harvest? I am thankful for the California non GMO Organic farms that bring true food that God gave us. The food that helps us fight cancer, not causes it.

    • Post Scripts says:

Genocide of the True Americans? Oh, give me a break…I’m tired of hearing that crap. Do you have a clue what you are talking about? No, obviously not! Genocide existed long before the arrival of the white man. There were no saintly, noble Indian tribes. Look into history Dewey, see who you would glorify!

They (Indians) were in most ways no better nor worse than any other human being, human nature being what it is. But, in some ways they were much more savage, certainly more savage than the Europeans. This should come as no surprise, as many Indian nations had not evolved past the stone age. They were so primitive, they engaged in sadistic torturing of their enemies, occasional cannibalism, kidnapping and rape of women and smashing in the little skulls of enemy babies.

Indian tribes were known to have chased off other Indian tribes from their ancestral lands too, killing them in the process. This is not the profile of a noble, civilized people victimized by the white man. Dewey you need to read more factual history, not the fiction written by liberals.

As far as that GMO baloney goes, once again you could not be more wrong, if you tried. GMO has been going on in nature since the beginning of time. Thanks to modern agricultural practices in the US we have saved millions from starvation.

“Time magazine ran a cover story titled “Grains of Hope.” The article joyfully announced the development of a genetically engineered “golden rice.” This new strain of GM rice has genes from viruses and daffodils spliced into its genetic instructions. The result is a form of rice that is a golden-yellow color (much like daffodil flowers), and that produces beta-carotene, which the human body normally converts into Vitamin A.

Nearly a million children die every year because they are weakened by Vitamin A deficiencies and an additional 350,000 go blind. Golden rice, said Time, will be a godsend for the half of humanity that depends on rice for its major staple. Merely eating this rice could prevent blindness and death.” GMO at work Dewey!

In China, Africa, Russia and wherever famines strike, modern ag practices have saved lives and improved security. GMO’s make a big difference. Organics couldn’t keep up with the demand and people by the millions would die. Their death would be on you Dewey if you pulled GMO’s off the shelf.

We can produce more food per acre than any other place in the world Dewey! This lowers your food bill as it feeds a large percentage of the world’s population. Often times the free food stores come right from American farmers that you habitually demonize.

As it is with anything in science, farming practices hold up until proven wrong…this is the evolution of farming and of science. You want perfection? It does NOT exist and it never existed. Pick a century and you will see GMO change happening in nature and only a tiny fraction of it was undesirable. The more we learn about pesticide application, gene splicing, fertilizing, crop rotation, etc., the better and safer foods you have to enjoy and stay healthy. Sure, you can have your organics, that’s a niche crop too! Its all good, but don’t try to shut down and condemn what is feeding the world because you don’t know you butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to farming.

      • Tina says:

        Right on Jack!

I too am fed up with the hate America (white man) crowd that is always looking for another way to demonize American business and success. It is particularly annoying when you consider the generosity of this nation, both as a nation and as private citizens. We have given more in charity, food, improved conditions, healthcare and blood than any other nation on earth.

And since this is about Thanksgiving, and the pilgrims were devout Christians, it is important to impart the actual history, as recorded by those who were in attendance as well as the historical evolution of the holiday.

    • Peggy says:

Scientist prove “True Americans” are from Europe. Can’t invade what your ancestors already inhabit.

DNA links Native Americans with Europeans:

“Ancient DNA reveals that the ancestors of modern-day Native Americans had European roots. The discovery sheds new light on European prehistory and also solves old mysteries concerning the colonisation of America.

A Danish-led international research team has mapped the hitherto oldest genome of an anatomically modern human: the genome of a boy buried at Mal’ta near Lake Baikal in south-central Siberia some 24,000 years ago.
Surprisingly, the genetic material reveals that the boy was European, which means that a European culture reached all the way east to Lake Baikal.

The really sensational news, however, is that a large proportion (about a third) of all living Native Americans are descendants of the Mal’ta people. In other words, Native Americans have partly European ancestry.”

      • Peggy says:

Also, it was Andrew Jackson, a democrat, who broke the treaties, ordered the “Trail of Tears” death march, bought the Indians land cheap and sold it for a huge profit.

How Jackson Made a Killing in Real Estate:

“We all know the warrior president kicked Indians off their land. What’s less known is why.

Coffee took the hint. Exceeding his instructions from Washington, the surveyor went to work expanding the land cession. When local Indians protested, Jackson threatened “immediate punishment,” authorized the surveyor to hire bodyguards and promised that the gunmen would be paid, “even though I am not Legally authorized to call for such a force.” Jackson also turned a blind eye to white settlers who were illegally moving into the Indian land. They were swiftly altering the facts on the ground. Jackson was taking two million acres—more than 3,000 square miles—a land area somewhat greater than one-third of the size of New Jersey.
To Jackson’s outrage, he was stopped. A delegation from the Cherokee Nation happened to be in Washington at the time of the attempted land grab. John Ross, a young English-speaking Cherokee who was a veteran of Andrew Jackson’s own army, complained to Jackson’s civilian superiors at the War Department. He argued that Cherokees had proven their “attachment” to the United States in war, so their rights must be respected. Jackson’s superiors agreed, and ordered Coffee to stop his illegal activity.
Jackson raged against the decision, writing to President James Madison that the government had “wantonly surrendered” territory of “incalculable Value to the U. States.” He then set about undermining his civilian superiors. As the commanding general in the area, it was his duty to evict the white settlers squatting on the Indian land. Jackson dragged his feet, arguing the settlers were poor families without the means to relocate. And the national hero could not long be denied. Having been thwarted in his effort to steal the land, he was given permission by Madison’s administration to try to buy it. He conducted tough, coercive negotiations with Cherokees in late 1816, telling them that they had a choice: sell him the land he wanted, or run the risk that their nation would be destroyed by encroaching white settlers anyway.”

          Truly dystopian.

          • Peggy says:

What does a neurological movement disorder have to do with a democrat forcing native American Indians off of their land to make a profit?

A more accurate description would be a mental disorder like sociopathic entitlement disease that has turned contagious and contaminated your whole party and the progressive movement.

You all need to seek psychiatric help.

        • Tina says:

Peggy it just goes to show you cannot judge a nation by any one individual, whether the USA or any Indian nation.

          • Peggy says:

Jackson was one sick greedy dude. Seems every generation has a really bad leader who rises to the top. Wilson was one and now Obama will be added to the list.

It’s hilarious Obama said he’s going to stick around DC to defend his legacy instead of letting it stand on it’s own merits. He is so thin skinned and insecure he’ll put our nation at risk to make sure the undeserved applause he craves continues.
